Just curious as to how much credit card debt other people have racked up. We currently have about $4,800 in credit card debt. That is on two cards. I just paid off one of my other cards and it was such a great feeling. I always feel so alone in having this debt looming over me and I hope to have it paid off this year. What about you?

None right now. About 5 years ago we had accumulated probably close to $8,000 for various reasons. Then we started to be claear about our goals, such as being a SAHM and buying a house, so we needed to change.

But once apon a time, a long time ago, when dh and I first married we climbed out of a $5,000 cc debt. Or was it $4K? Took us a year and it was well worth it!

No cc debt, but we do have one $3000 loan thru our credit union that we hope to have paid off soon. I can't wait to be free of it! Unfortunately we have an expensive summer ahead of us (3 family/friends weddings, all out of town, that we can't miss cuz we're in them.) So, while we won't have to borrow any more, the loan won't be dissapearing as soon as I'd like, but it should be gone by Oct.

You should make an anonymous poll for this one We're at $3500...hopefully paid off completely in the next month or two.

We have zero balance on credit cards. We did have over 20K of CC debt not so long ago (poor spending habits and infertility treatments).

When we got married, we had about $35,000 on credit cards. We paid it off about 18 months ago (so it took about 5 years, through unemployment, then a drop in pay, then my dh went back to school, then blah, blah, blah). It was the happiest day ever when it was paid off!

None here, other than the monthly-paid-in-full balance. We do that to earn points, but it is only on normal everyday expenses like gas, groceries, etc.

We have in excess of $10K a few years back. When we sold our last house 4.5 years ago, we used some of the proceeds from the sale to wipe out the CCs. We had less to put down on the new house, but it was great to be free from those cards. We haven't carried a balance or paid a dime in interest on anything other than our mortgage since.

Zero debt that is carried from month to month. We do use a card now for most things and bill pay...the rewards just bought me a pressure canner and canning set. I was seriously reluctant to do this but for a number of reasons, including our reduced spending level (since we each more likely to blow through cash, something we learned after months of trying to do all cash) and the ease of having all bills auto paid without the risk of losing bank balance funds, it works out best for us. I make a payment to the card online each week or so there is never a big balance. We are able to save more money each month this way. I think to little purchases we thought nothing of with cash seem to trivial to bother.

HELOC'd to pay off 17k in credit card debts, have a plan to pay off the HELOC very quickly (within 1-2 yrs). That 17k was scary. We have not used our CC since and won't.

we've got just under $5000 thanks to a couple emergency trips to see family and for funerals. We finished paying off an additional $5000 last year that was due to poor spending.
