My MW charges $3500. That includes all pre-natals, some labs, home visits after the birth, baby checks, and a birth kit. There may be more that it includes but I can't think of it all right now.

$3800 for all prenatals, home visit, birth, postnatal care for baby and mom the first 6 weeks. We had to buy our own birthkit, which was like $75 or something? Our insurance covered 40%.

Our midwives charged $3400. This included prenatal care, prenatal vit's, herbs and teas, birthing pool and parts, birth and postpartum care. We paid extra for our labs which were about $300. , and our birth kit was $45.

here it ranges from $1500 to $2000 these days. It's gone up a little, the gas prices are hard on doulas/midwives!!!

I am paying $2600 plus about $70 for the birth kit, plus $175 for tub rental (if I want it).

There's also some other stuff that she has parents provide that we don't have around the house so we'll need to spend money on that as well. Some of it we have, some of it we don't but I haven't bought that stuff yet, so I don't know how much it will come to in total. I'm estimating maybe $50, but it could be more or less depending on how much stuff you need to get.

Mine charges 2400$ she asked us if we needed a discount and DH said no so Were paying the full price there but she seemed flexible.

We had to pay for the first doctors appointment with labwork and ultrasound and that was 400$. I really dont think any of that was required though. We just did it since I had an IUD and had NO IDEA of due date.

Also have to buy our own postpartum supplies, I bought about a 20$ kit and got some drugstore stuff as well.

appts are in my home, she provides free group classes and 6 weeks pp care too.

oh my goodness.. that's so expensive!! or maybe I'm just not used to american prices. Is that cheaper than the hospital? how much is a hospital birth in ths states?

I'm not sure what a homebirth costs here (Belgium).. I'm meeting with a midwife tomorrow to discuss a possible homebirth - I'd much rather that.

With my first I paid the hospital about 1250 euros for the birth and my 5 day stay (about 1600 dollars) - that's not counting all my pre-natal appointments and scans etc.

I was hoping that a homebirth would be cheaper. Maybe I should prepare myself for some big numbers then. yikes, if it's that much I don't know if we can afford it

I actually am not sure exactly how much mine are...since they are in network I only know what I have to pay with our insurance. I believe they are now over $4,000 for people paying out of pocket.

Around here (FL) a LM/CPM regulated state where insurance is legally required to pay the general costs are between $3,500-$4,750.

I spoke to a mw that a good friend used to work for as an assistant and she charged $4,500...though she said even with some reimbursement by the insurance companies (she said usually reimbursement commonly was $2,500-3,000 from insurance) most clients still wound up paying $1,500-2,000 out of pocket. She was actually going to be out of state when I birthed anyhow.

There is a huge difference between states I've found!

$2500 for my CPM. We covered our own $40 labs (co-pays, our choice), $20 u/s (co-pays, our choice), $60 for birth supplies, $150 birth pool supplies.

My CPM works on a sliding scale for what you can afford $2500-$4000

I've heard an uncomplicated vaginal hospital birth averages around $7500. Though I don't know if that's just the hospital fees, or everything including prenatal care (haven't birthed in a hospital here, hope I never have to).

my mw charges $2650 for a homebirth, which hopefully insurance will cover half so OOP is around $1325, with dd I paid a total of about $1500 for a hospital birth with my midwife, and I was in the hospital for only 24 hours, and that is with my insurance.

I paid $1500 for my CPM.

My previous 4 HB were in network and the insurance paid 90%. Once they paid the whole amount.

A HB is about 1/3-1/2 of the cost of a natural hospital birth. In the US there is a lot more litigation, so that plays a big factor in the costs.

Perhaps you'd get a more accurate answer if you posted this question in the Finding Your Tribe section.

Here in NYC they seemed to all be around $5000 if you are paying out of packet. Some bill insurance companies for more, though. THis includes prenatal visits, birth and 6 week check-up pp.
