This is just a question I have been wondering. Personally, my daughter slept on my arm facing me and thus continious cuddling until she was 2.5. Now that she his almost three, she still spends about 75 percent of the night being cuddled by me someway. A lot of times if I am not cuddling her she will make a little scream or even as for me to hold her.

So do I just have a super cuddly co-sleeper? What is it like for others and their babes/children (and part of the reason I am asking is that I am pregnant with number two on the way and I am clueless as to how I am going to keep her cuddling needs satisfied and take care of/co-sleep with also a newborn! My daughter has always been a crappy sleeper and the cuddling really helps her....).

thanks

My 14 month old DS sleeps on my arm facing me as well for most of the night. Once in a while my arm will fall asleep and I'll sort of slide him off onto the bed for a bit. That doesn't last too long though. He's my little heat seeker and comes squirming over looking for cuddles again.

I just think kids vary a lot on this. My older dd was never a big nighttime snuggler, and happily moved to her own bed at a relatively young age (2). My younger dd, at 5, would still prefer to sleep in full body contact with me.

thankfully my dd and i are the same. she is a cuddler and i am one too. we sleep spoon fashion and then change a bit during the night. we cuddle most of teh night. there is nothing more sweet than to have my dd's bottom resting on my thighs. she is 7.

DD1 is my barnacle. We have a king sized bed but she and I can sleep comfortably on a twin. She's 3.5. Her fave position is for me to face away from her so she can get her arms around my neck and one leg up on my hip. Most of the time I love it but sometimes I really would like some space! Daddy doesn't cut it, either, must be something about the mommy smell.

Once when she was about 15 months I cuddled her to sleep and then went to get up. She was 100% asleep, but as I sat up, she sat up too, like she was attached to me with a string. She stayed asleep though! It was a little unnerving.

DD2 doesn't like any cuddles when she's sleeping. She likes her crib in her room and for everyone to stay away. Sometimes I miss her in the night.

My LO likes to be close to me but not cuddling. He sees to sleep much more deeply that way, but he does want to be able to reach out his hand and touch me. (OK, what I really mean is reach out his hand and twiddle my nipple but that's another thread....)

Very little. The only time we do any cuddling is when DS is nursing. Other than that, I need space to sleep (wish I didn't, but that's how I've always been). DS sleeps between DH and I. He either will be between us or cuddled up to DH. :

We really do not cuddle at all unless he is nursing. Anytime we are close he wants to nurse. I am kinda jealous that him and daddy get to cuddle. When ds wakes up to nurse at night, he rolls away after...and I am usually so uncomfortable from lying on one side nursing that I roll over in the other direction. I would love to be able to cuddle my son w/o having to nurse him.

My almost 3 dd cuddles either with me or dh most of the night. Is it possible for your dd to cubble with your dh some times to give you and the new baby a chance to cuddle and bf. If you start suggesting this now, maybe things will be smoother when the new baby arrives.

DS would love to sleep on my arm all the time (he is 2.5), but I just can't do it. My arm falls asleep after about 15 minutes or so, and I have to move him. I also some how can't seem to sleep facing him. Not sure why it drives me nutty, but I always have to roll over facing away from him before I can conk out. He will often snuggle up to my back though, which I think is the sweetest thing ever. He is definitely more snuggly than I am, although if my arm didn't fall asleep, I would love to let him snuggle up on my arm/shoulder all night long.

My DD goes back and forth with this lately. When she was younger she needed tons of body contact to sleep but lately she's been rolling away a little more. I miss her sometimes. One thing that she absolutely loves to do is to rest her feet on me. Even if her upper body is a little away from me her feet are often touching me.

He's a semi snuggler. He'll sometimes wiggle close, but sometimes not. It depends. But he doesn't need to be close to me all night, just as long as he knows I'm near by he's fine.

unfortunately i can't because DH is on sleeping meds so I keep a physical barrier between him and us. When new babe arrives we will be getting a full sized mattress to put next to our king so he can sleep on that. any other suggestions???

My dd never needed to snuggle. She was fine in her own space most of the night. My ds always wants to snuggle if he was in the bed. It is funny though during the day they are the opposite. My dd is more of a cuddler during the day than my ds who doesn't like to just sit and snuggle with me if he isn't nursing.
