Anyone know how much a pg and nursing mom should eat? I'm hoping y'all say a gazillion calories... I swear, this is the last thread for today...really.

I think as long as what you are eating is healthy, there is no reason to limit calories.

So don't eat the whole box of cookies,
graze all day,
and eat for 3!!

Hi there! I'm nursing and pregnant, too. My nursling is 21 mo. I agree with the other poster -- if you eat to hunger, you should be just wonderful. That said, do you usually get morning sickness with your pregnancies? If so, make sure you eat high protein foods when you feel good enough and drink plenty of water.

With my last pregnancy I lost weight during the first trimester and I have this time, too (but less than 1st time). I eat when I'm hungry and always have a snack before bed (otherwise, I'm up at 2 to eat). So far, so good.

The food always goes to the fetus first and then to your toddler then to you.

Best wishes! Hope this pregnancy is smooth sailing!

The only thing I was told was try and get 100g of protein a day...which is harder than it sounds...

just calorie wise, the fetus needs only about 300 additional calories over what you normally eat -- which is equivalent to a glass of skim milk.
if you're hungry eat, just make it worthwhile and not stuff like chips and candy.
protein, protein, protein. 80-100 grams a day.
