Ok I have a question for you on stripping, when do you know if it is necessary to do it? some of my dipes I have gotten used from other mammas and I don't know if this needs done. I don't figure that the ones I got new need it, but I don't want to have problems either.

In the 13 months I've CD'ed, I've never stripped (diapers, that is :LOL ). I've never had any issues that may make me think I need to. I just run one prerinse, wash on hot with maybe 1/8th a cup of Tide or Kirkland's, and the regular rinse/spin cycle. I'm curious as to if I'm missing something....

Well I wash with just a small amount of tide free and clear with white vinegar for the softener and I never see any suds in the washer when I am finished. I have a front load and do an extra rinse with it, but I dont' know if there is more that I need to do. The diapers are soft even when I hang them on the line (which is most of the time, which a 10 minute run in the dryer for the pul) and I am done.

I only strip often because I have hard water and I wash my dipes frequently. It's a toss up with hard water, sometimes I have to use a lot of detergent and sometimes just a little to keep the stink away so I strip more frequently then needed I'm sure just to prevent stink before it starts. It seems once I get stink I can't get rid of it so I try and keep it away!!

I would strip anything you bought used but new stuff you are probably fine, especially with a front loader.
