How old is your DC, and how often do you get out of the house together? I don't mean to the mailbox in your slippers, but out shopping, lunch with a friend, a baby movie with your mom-and-tots group...

I ask because with DS I was out only once or twice a week. I felt the time crawled by so slowly. Now with DD, I am out almost every day, and the time speeds by. I feel great and she really likes being out as well. If she gives cues that it is too much, we go home again. And when we are home, she enjoys the things we have there, because she hasn't been there all day 24/7.

We go out every day. If we haven't been out yet by 2:30 or so, DD gets cranky and then immediately gets happy again once she realizes we're headed for the car. She is 12 months now, but this has been true for most of her life. I'd go nuts if we didn't get out once per day. If we don't have errands to run, we go visit my grandparents or have lunch with someone who works.

I answered once or twice/week. That number would probably be higher if I didn't have to drive BF to work if I want the car. It will also go up as it gets nicer out and we can walk to places.

We go out daily and have since both dcs were home from the hospital. I am miserable staying home all day, and both kids are happier when we're out and about.

I loathe being home and am certain if I hadtried to stay home all day for more than a day or so, I'd have ended up with ppd.

I get out every day, but I don't take all three kids with me. (I have a two year old and two month old twins) I can't take them all out by myself-- it's more than I can handle. So when DH gets home at 3, I take one child and get out for an hour or two. We have a rotational system so that each kid gets a turn, and I'm not out so long that DH has to worry about feeding the babies. We don't do anything special just go to the library or a park or shopping or whatever, but I HAVE to get out or I'd go NUTS and like I said I'm just not up to taking the whole crew with me.

When DD1 was a baby, it was a different story. We went all kinds of places, every day.

For sure every day, at least once, except once or twice when she had a cold. I would go nuts if I went without getting some fresh air/exercise and seeing people, and I suspect she might, too.

She is a bit over 5 months old.

we are out of the house every day. DS is 3.5 months old. We walk into town daily, if not twice a day. He loevs being outside in the fresh air, and I can run an errand or visit with friends!

Not counting outside to play, which we do almost every day, we get out and about 2-3 times a week (not a pole option). Library, cooperative play center, playground, shopping, visiting DH at work. Shopping uses up too much energy, so I prefer to only bring the baby or go with the entire family. But if the toddler & the baby & I are all in decent moods, I'll do a grocery order.

We're out every day, as much as possible. I live in a city, though, which makes it easy--no car involved. We walk the dog twice a day down a bike path near my apartment. We do several other trips as well--usually once to the bookstore, where dd crawls around the children's section; often a trip to the drugstore if we need something; down to the waterfront to look at ducks (we live near a river); to the park to play on the swings, to the local community garden to look at the flowers, whatever. If the weather is really horrible, I'll pop her in my mei tai and we'll go to a covered shopping center that's nearby.

For the first 2 months, we hardly went out at all, and I think that contributed big time to my PPD.

Us too! Only have one car and DH has it. When it's warm we get out more. DS is 5 months and gets overwhelmed easily, so it seems better for him to stay home most days. Plus, I don't really mind it either...what can I say, I'm just a homebody!

My ds is 8mo 3wks and we go out at least 4 times a week. Two days are activities for 5yo dd. Then there is the nursing moms group and church. We usually get groceries too so that would be 5 days out.

We go for a walk every day, but only go "somewhere", like in the car, once or twice a week. I try to do my outings when dh is home with the kids b/c ds doesn't like the car much at all.

I've been thinking about this---some weeks I think we get out too much, sometimes, too little.

We have a Bible study once a week (time for mama alone, time for baby to play with others), MOPs 2x a month (same--mama alone, baby with others).

We run errands every Wednesday (yes, what can I say? A little OCD; I clean house on Friday mornings every week, too. ). At least one day a week we go nowhere. Library once a week or so. Occasional playdates. Go to grandma's (with her fantastic big backyard) 3x a month or so.

We go out at least 4 or 5 days a week, whether it is just me and the kids or after Daddy gets home and we all go out. In the winter we go out less because I really hate the snow/gear mess. I have, for the first time since my youngest was born gone out without anyone with me, last week I went to the store 2 miles down the street for about half an hour. I have very rearely in the past 9 years gone out without at least one of the kids.
I have spent 3 hours away from the youngest ( I was in the ER) and when I leave the rest, they are all together, they like to stay as a group.
DS (4.5 months old) and I go out nearly every day. Some days I have the car, and if I do we go to storytime at the library (usually twice a week) or for coffee with other mom friends. If I don't have the car, then I will generally pop DS in the Ergo and walk to meet my DP at work at the end of the day. It's about a 45 minute walk.

When DP is home on the weekend, we go out even more. Grocery shopping, the mall, the zoo, friend's houses etc.

I'm out with dd once or twice a week, but dh (who's a wahd) is out with her more while I'm at work. Even if we don't leave the property, dd is outside just about every day. We have 80 acres of forest and take her for walks frequently.
