'cause I got three in a row
:

I bought some ovulation test strips from early-pregnancy-tests and, to my surprise, they sent me 5 free hpt strips (which can be a blessing and a curse).. So, I took one April 2 and had a shadow show up within 10 min so I took another one on the forth, which gave me a clear bfn- though it turned gray in 30 min. I took another this morning, that had a gray line- slightly more visible, in 15 min.

I haven't had a pp af yet, and I am not ttc (though I pee like I am- hence posting here
). and, fwiw, withdrawl is our method of bc.

I usually don't get evaps, and from what I'm reading online, they aren't that common (meaning that you shouldn't get more than one every now and then) but I'm not too sure.. What has your experience been with evaps? the lines are visible enough that I don't need the 'special' lamp or even squinty eyes- aren't ghost lines 'posed to be hard to see?

any comments -even "stop peeing on things"- would be greatly appreciated

eta: the lines are also the same thickness as the control line, just not really pink.. sooo confusing!

could you post a picture of them? it may be easier for us to decide... many of us have seen both evaps AND early positives enough to tell the difference from a picture.

Oh I feel your pain! I had this experience 2 months ago.. I had 4 of those weird lines, which showed up within few minutes but were kinda greyish not exactly pink. They were very faint but visable so I got my hopes up (early on BFP??) so high that when AF showed up I completely broke down and am kinda just getting over it now.

Here´s a pic

I hope yours will turn out better

After I read about this alot and found this on peeonastick.com:

"What's an evaporation line? - Evaporation ("evap") lines result with the test's antibody strip just looks slightly different than the space around it. There is a line of antibodies (usually made from mouse cells) in the Control and Test section. The Control line binds with any liquid and turns pink (or blue, in tests using blue dye.) The Test/Result line turns pink only if pregnancy hormone is detected. If not, the moisture passes over this strip and does not turn pink. It may, however, become more visible when the light hits the moisture on the strip-- it may appear gray, colorless, like a "dent" in the test, or like a "ghost line." It may appear at any time-- as soon as the urine hits it, after a few minutes as the test absorbs the moisture, or after the 10-minute time limit. It may appear when the test is drying, or after it has dried. It may disappear as the test is drying, or after the test has dried, or not disappear at all.

The simple fact is that there is always "something there" that is slightly visible-- it's simply the antibodies on the test that would turn pink in the presence of hCG. When the test becomes wet, or as it dries, or after it dries, the antibody strip may become more visible. Therefore, all tests may have them. It is not a defect; it's just how tests are made.

A real positive is identified by its color (pink or blue, whatever the color of the test's dye is) and its appearance within 10 minutes of urinating on the stick. A line that appears after 10 minutes, regardless of color, must be considered an evap line and is caused by the test's chemicals changing. HPT's are rapid assay diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid."

i bought a box of accu-clear brand back in october--it was a box of THREE tests, and i got evaps with EACH one. they were pink, and they appeared right AT the 10 minute mark. it was so weird, i really thought i was pregnant--but i bought a digital the next morning, and it was totally negative.

best as i can figure, the batch was just off.

since I only had one test left, thought I'd give it a go..

and there's a line (again)!! right away!!

it's light, and could very well be an evap, but it is a bit darker/thicker than the ones before...

I don't want to get all excited, but this is getting hard!

(I can't get the pic on this computer, but I did scan it and I *could* see some pink..)

I bought a dollar store test for tomorrow morning- so we'll see

Yk, I was worried, but now, well- I'm really happy
:

I don't know how I will possibly tell my partner (he's pretty much done) but I have a feeling that things will work out how they're supposed too.

Unfortunetely, dp's out of town until Monday and I've gotta stretch $30 til then.. hence ds hpts

two more very light lines..

I took the first at 4am when I woke up to change to baby- that one had a white line after 5 min that slowly turned into a light, light, light pink shadow (within 10 min). I took the second around 11am that also turned white right away (within seconds), that has a pink shadow, maybe a *tiny* bit darker than the one before (within 3 min)..

is this good? do your dollar store tests have a white line as the pee goes over? the pink is soo light, but my friend's test (same brand) had NO line, at all. (yes, I examined her's with my eagle eye
)

I'm thinking early bfp, but trying hard not to
