My 16 month old DS is on a course of Omnicef (trust me, he needed them, we are generally not into abx and neither is our ped, but this was baaaaaad).

He has terrible runny stools and the world's worst diaper rash, as well as a thrush outbreak on his butt. I've been giving him maintainance doses of Baby Jarro-dophilus, according to the label, but I'm wondering if I can give him more during this "crisis"? He's not eating well right now, only taking a bite or two of yogurt a day. So I'm not sure I can go that route.

Any ideas?

I'm not positive if it alters the effectiveness of the abx if you give a lot of doses or prbx during. I would. I haven't noticed or even personally experienced any adverse fx with taking prbx as often as you like. For things like diarrhea you can take 2 or so tablets every 2 hours until diarrhea subsides. I can't imagine what it would hurt. Waiting to hear more.
