I'm having an ultrasound at 13 weeks as part of a genetic screening and everyone keeps asking me whether they will be able to tell the gender then? Anyone know? With my son, we didn't want to know, but with this one, I definitely want to find out. We'll also be having a level 2 ultrasound around 18 weeks and I know you can find out then, just am not sure whether you can earlier or not...

I don't think they can tell that early. As far as I can remember 15-16 weeks is the earliest they can tell.

Though I had my first scan with Cecilia at around 12 weeks (had one when doppler didn't pick up the HB under my flab <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/innocent.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shy"> ) and the tech said he guessed girl and gave some reasons to it but that it ws just that. He was right though. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">
