Decide to leave the country, discover shipping all of your belongings just isn't worth thousands of dollars, sell/donate everything and take the rest in eight suitcases and start again with very little...
That's what we will be doing in a couple of months. I'm shipping some books, have taken all my photos out of the albums and put them in a little box, and eveything else has to fit in our bags or cannot come.
So anyone who is in Colorado (Winterpark area) and needs to refurnish their house let me know I will be selling it all very cheaply......
Um. . . wow! I've wished I could do something like that for awhile, but don't have the guts. I hope the entire experience does leave you feeling liberated.
I'm in the opposite boat because we are moving across the country, but DH's work is paying for the move--so I am resisting the urge to purge because we won't have to pay to move things but we will have to pay to replace them if we need them!
Good luck with your move! sounds like you're going to have the yard sale of the century!!
When you ship your books you might want to ask to send them in an M-bag. It's very cheap. To ship to Europe I paid $1 per pound.
Have fun on this new adventure!

Ooo thanks! I had no idea how I was going to do that..I'll look into it.
Hey, my sister lives in Winter Park!!! I hear it's a small town, so maybe you know her? She use to work at the front desk of the Iron Horse resort, and then at some spa, her name is Traci. Good luck, BTW, with the whole moving thing! and yes, that is a way to decrease your stuff!
We're moving soon, although it's nothing as radical as the changes you are making.
I found that putting our home on the market has really improved my housekeeping and decluttering skills. And I too am exited about going through all of my stuff and getting rid of much of it, just so I can be liberated from everything.
And yes, it does feel good to be less weighed down with things.
