DD is 3.5 mo and we cosleep. She has alwaya slept/napped with/on me. Now I have to return to work. My mom has been with her the last three days and she will eventually be in daycare. How do I get her to nap alone now? My mom is very stressed due to her cranky/fussy/tired self all day.

Have you tried a sling, wrap or Mei Tai? Then your mom or other care provider could wear her through her naps. Other than having her lie on me or next to me, this was the only way I could get my DD to nap until about 7 months or so.

About that time we could get 20-30minutes out of a bouncy chair or swing ...just enough time for a shower. Otherwise it was and usually still is the sling. At 6 months she will sometimes nap alone... though we still have rough days and at least ont sling nap a day

Not only will my dd not sleep anywhere but on me, but nowadays it seems like it has to be IN BED with me lying next to her, I can't even nurse her to sleep on the boppy so I can have some computer time (sigh). So, the mei tai has been a lifesaver for me; it's the only other place she will fall asleep. If your mom could get used to that I bet it would help. I'd go for the mei tai over a sling, too, cause it's easier to wear the baby for long stretches with a two-shoulder carrier.

Considering my DD is now 2.5 and only ever napped alone three times in her life... all I can say is, "good luck!"

If anyone has any ideas for a 2.5 year old.... please let me know! I'm going back to school next month myself and this time I wasn't able to adjust my schedule around her usual nap time....
