Hey, this is my first time on the writers board in over a year, and even then, I think I rarely visited.Anyway, I have a few kids books I've written, and a few more in the "oven"and I am wondering how one goes about finding a publisher/getting published?TIA

Find a publisher with similar books to your proposals. Send m/s with brief introductory letter (include any relevant writing sucesses or names of published articles etc). Don't bother with illustrations unless you self-illustrate and you're really good. Double space m/s with plenty of room around margin for their notes. If pictures are critical -eg they tell the whole story through irony, give guidance but be brief. Be economical with words!

Send to lots, expect rejections and be very patient.

Good luck!

You've probably already done this, but if not...

Get a copy of the most recent Children's Writer's and Illustrator's Market (your local library should have a copy). Here's the amazon link:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...487439-0129459

It will have contact information, manuscript formatting, etc. for all the publishing houses.

Good luck!

One thing: if it is in a specific genre (i.e. religion) you can try publishers that have produced things like that (I don't know, but like Deseret, etc., if that would fit).
