My son is 1 yr. old now, and he's eating some solids (meat is about the only thing he'll eat, but he is eating). So, I figure it's time to start him with CLO. But how? Dropper? If so, how do you clean the dropper? How do you get the baby to let you put it their mouth? I need all the details.

My dd is 3, so she is a bit older than your little one. But, I just use a dropper. I use Blue Ice Fermented Cod and it comes with a dropper. I wash it in the dishwasher.

I found when my dd was younger, if I put the dropper down inside of her cheek, it was pretty easy. This way it doesn't just squirt down the back of their throats.

Good luck!

So did you have 2 or 3 droppers, then, so you'd always have one on hand while waiting for the dishwasher to run? I'm not using the fermented CLO, just the "plain" Blue Ice. We could get droppers to use.

We do have 2 droppers. One from an old bottle and one from the new bottle.

It really does help to use the dropper. Good Luck!!

It won't be until Thurs. that we can buy droppers (unless we find some floating around here). But I'll try to remember to let you know how it goes.

Ever since my son was 1.5 yo, he has LOVED using the dropper syringe himself. I fill it up and hand it to him, he sticks it in his mouth and pushes the handle. He thinks it's great.

We've used a straw and a medicine syringe thing. We do the Blue Ice Orange and she loves it.

Wow, I never thought about using a dropper. My son has been taking CLO from a spoon since he was two without complaint. Our brand is cherry flavoured, which helps, although it still tastes WAY more like fish than it does like cherries. I just tell him that it's vitamins. He loves taking vitamin C chewables once in a while, he thinks they're like candy, and therefore I suppose he figures all "vitamins" are a form of candy. Whatever works!

My DD always took it from a spoon without any fuss. I think she was about 9 months old when I started giving it to her, and she liked both the mint and orange flavors of the Blue Ice CLO.

Hmmm, maybe I'll try the spoon while we're waiting to get the droppers. He usually won't open his mouth for anything except something in his own fingers, but we haven't really tried a spoon, so it's worth trying.

Another question. I give 1/4 tsp., right?

My DC have all taken it from a spoon as early as about 18 months. I've never tried giving it to them before then. (I usually only give the CLO during the winter, not in the summer.)

That sounds right. I think I gave 1/4 tsp back then. I used a teaspoon and just fed the CLO to DD. She took it without any issues. It was a flavored variety from Nordic Naturals.
