Taking 50-100mg of Vit B6 and a B complex vitamin will help reduce prolactin and help with egg quality. It *could* affect your supply a little, but with an older nursling like your DS, I don't think it woul very much. It did help to lengthen out my LP though, because prolactin (nursing hormone) competes for the same receptors as progesterone, and B6 helps reduce prolactin which helps you have better progesterone equaling longer LP. I wouldn't go past 200mg a day though.

I agree with the PP. I increased my LP from 10-14 days in about two cycles by taking a Bcomplex 50mg.

It worked even the very first cycle to lengthen it by about two days.

Good Luck!

I do just the B6 - I'm going to start a b complex as well this time though. Doing just the b6 has lengthened out my lp and I was taking 50mg in the morning and 50 at night. 10mg won't be enough by itself.

I take a prenatal that contains 50mg of b6. I also use 200mg/day of progesterone post O. Some women take less. I intend to also this cycle, probably 100mg.
It has no effect on ds' breastfeeding other than to give me peace of mind.
It will affect your supply only inasmuch as your period does in general.

I also have a short luteal phase and still breastfeeding. I'm taking vitex and a b complex and have not had any issues with supply. We'll see if my lp lengthens this cycle.

Agree with what everyone's said about B6. You might want to play with the dose- for instance, I started @ 50mg, that didn't help my LPD but it also didn't touch my milk supply. I kept upping the dose. For me, I've found I have to stick @ 150mg/day, higher than that really touches my supply.

Like someone else said, don't go over 200mg, unless you have the advice of a good herbalist, etc who is well trained in the area bc too much B-vitamins can be toxic to both you and your nursling.

I would recommend to always take your B6 either in or with a B-complex, your body is more able to use it that way. An added benefit, B-complex has your folic acid (b9) in it that is important for TTC'ing, too.

Bcomplex helps in the absorption of b6. You should take it daily. It will take a while to work, it's not like you take b6 + complex and your LP will gain 3 days the next week. I started at 200mg of b6 but take 100mg + a prenatal that has another 25 or 50 I think. Bcomplex vitamins can't hurt you (taken as directed, don't take 10 a day obviously). I need to take as few vitamins as possible because I always gag so I found a great prenatal that covers my folic acid plus Bs. I continue to take the B6 + prenatal through pregnancy as it's been studied that b6 helps with morning sickness.
good luck~!
