Argh. For the last two nights, I have ended up changing sheets and DD's clothes because she is soaked through.

We use a premium CPF and a liner (not sure what kind it is, a nice mama here sent me a few
) with a PUL cover.

I don't have a lot of $$$ to spend, so I'm looking for a cost-effective way to create a good nighttime system with what I have.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks
Kate

fold an infant prefold as a doubler, don't have those then maybe a washcloth, hand towel? Look around the house I'm sure you can find something that will help out.
Good luck I know how much it sucks when things aren't working and you don't have the cash to change them.
Janessa

ps if you really can't find anything that will work pm me I'm sure I can spare some doublers for you (hope thats not against the diapering board rules)

Oh I so feel your pain. We have been using CPFs forever at night, but I think ds has turned into a super night wetter because last night I changed him 3 times. He was wearing a wool soaker too (probably needs to be relanolized). I have a nighty newt from littlelounginglizards. That is not very expensive and works great, sadly we only have one. I also just ordered two fuzzi bunz to try and help with our problem. 4th night in a row I've had to change my sheets. ANyway sorry I dont have much advice, just to let you know I feel your pain.

Are you trifolding or snappi'ing/pinning your CPF? Sadly, CPF's are just not absorbent enough to go all night by themselves; you will probably need hemp.

You could try trifolding a CPF and using that inside another CPF snappi'd or pinned. It will be extremely bulky, but it might hold for you. Clearly you need to get some additional absorbency in there or just resign yourself to changing her diaper in the middle of the night, hopefully before everything gets wet.

Thanks for the replies!

Karla, I've tried both ways, Snappi and tri-fold. At night, I prefer the tri-fold so the wetness stays more in the "zone" instead of around her waist and hips (granted, this is theoretical as she's been soaked the last two nights).

I certainly don't mind changing her at night, she wakes up at least twice to nurse so that's when I've been changing.

Sounds like hemp is the way to go. I've never had any hemp, so of course I have questions...

Can I just buy a yard of hemp from one of the fabric stores and make tri-folds to put in the CPFs? Would that do it?

At 4:00 am this morning I considered buying sposies
but I'd like to give nighttime CDing the old college try first.

I would suggest Nylon PullOn pants instead of Pull. Dappy Pullons NEVER wik.

You also need doublers. No doublers work with my baby except hemp. "Real" doublers are expensive , so I did was to buy some Hemp/cotton fleece fabric (8.30 per yard incl shipping).
First you need to shrink it, then cut big rectangles long enough to cover the center of the CPF and broad enough so you can fold in half and then fold 2-3 times. For my baby, only 6 layers work. Hemp does not unravel, so you don't need to know how to sew.

On top of it all, I put a rectangle of fleece (microfleece I think) to wik the moisture away from my son's bottom.

I would buy a cover one size up because of the doubler

You can either do a bikini or angel fold. I can only use pins overnight - it gives a better fit with the doubler inside.

Some people say that adding a wool liner forces the doubler and diaper to absorb even more.

I use prefolds at night with great success. As a matter of fact, I have tried hemp dipes and did not find that they were any less soaked than my prefolds. I use a premium cpf bikini twisted with an infant 4x8x4 trifolded in the crotch with a fleece liner over this. It really is not that bulky. If you do not have any smaller prefolds, I second the recommendation of a hand towel or something......you can get creative. It does not have to say DIAPER in the description.

As far as covers, I too will suggest the nylon Dappis from Babies R Us. I have NEVER had any leaking or wicking with these. I did have wicking with Bummis nylon though. The Dappis will either say Dappi or Especially For Baby on the package at BRU. They are $3.99 for a 2pack.

I also have learned that with a side sleeper, any wrap or side-snapping cover would leak overnight. I had to have pull on.

I LOVE my wool soakers and they work great at night for my older son, but my younger son will soak through ANY wool at night. I think it is the position in which he sleeps. He is allergic as well, so I only let him model wool occassionally.

Cuz I have a TON of nylon pull on pants that I could send you... And I could throw in a Polarbaby if you'd like to try hemp. I got a steal a while ago from the Trading Post and I could stand to lose one of them

I use an infant prefold and a polarbaby on my 15+ pound, almost 3 month old Mason along with his Aristocrat and he's never wicked through yet and he's a super pee-er (and they go for 12 hours!)

PM me if you're interested.

I use a CPF (4x8x4) and two homemade doublers - 2 layers flannel and 2 layers old towels. It is a bit bulky but with a plain old SWW I think I've only had one nighttime leak and he is SOAKED in the morning. I've also used my 4x8x4 CPF and a 3x6x3 (does that exsist? I know it has less layers than the others.) tri-folded and that has worked. Oh, and I snappi it all.

Good luck!
