We are trying to aggressively pay down our debt. This is not going well as DH lost his job and hasn't been able to find another one.

I am a full time WOH mama for the time being. Help me braistorm some ways for our whole family to make "extra" money so we can reach our goal! What we have so far -

-Freelance writing work (this has already brought in $280 this month)
-Coupon Clipping for groceries
-Selling unused household items on Ebay/Craigslist (I haven't make any money doing this yet but we are still trying).

What else can we do?

I've made some good extra money selling items on eBay, you sort of have to scope out what sells though and stick with those items. I know a lot of people make good money by finding good name brand items cheap at like Marshalls or TJ Maxx and then selling them online - the stores don't carry the same merchandise throughout the country. Just an idea.

Can you do some babysitting at home maybe?

If you have bookkeeping/accounting skills (or if anyone else reading this thread for ideas does) I suggest doing the books for a small company or non-profit. Often it is a work from home type thing 3-6 hours a week. It entails filing payroll, filing payroll taxes, completing some tax and legal renewal forms each year and paying bills. It is really easy for a numbers/detail person. It pays at least $20/hour where I live.

Also, if you can write, have you explored grant writing for non-profits or writing resumes and cover letters for others for a fee?

I second checking on craigslist. I have also gotten odd jobs like helping people pack to move, one time cleaning jobs and other stuff.

Also, if you have a truck you could offer to do "dump runs". Pick up a truckload of stuff people want taken to the dump, charge like $50-$100 bucks. You will have to pay a fee to the dump to take the stuff there but I think its usually like $10-$20. You can also try to salvage anything that people are having dumped and sell of craigslist. This might not be your thing but if you have a truck it would be an easy way to make some money.

Try going to www.volition.com and checking out their mystery shopping resources. I earn a few hundred a month in grocery reimbursements and cash doing this.

I model for art/life drawing classes. 20$+ per hour. Any community college with an art program, and even classes offered through the city or an arts guild - they are always looking for people. It's not for everyone, but I actually like it. It's really meditative, and does a lot for my self-acceptance/confidence. In any case. We've also done paper routes. Flyer routes are even better, as they don't require the 5am wake up, and often are only a few times a week vs every day. What about phone books? It's that time here, and I think you can get that on a contract (to deliver them). Another good money maker is anything elections related. Again, short term commitment, decent renumeration, with a bonus civil involvement. Do you have any elections coming up?

I earn extra cash for my LLL conferences by manning the nursery at church now and then. It pays $50 for three hours! Serve God and your budget at the same time

It is probably the wrong season for this but after a "big" snowstorm, my ex-DH would make money putting chains on people's cars.

If you are good on the organizational front, I would pay for you to help me figure out how to organize my house.

If you live in the Bay Area, you could be a secret shopper for Walmart.

Is your dh working anywhere? Could he get a part-time job until he's able to find something that's more in his line of work?

He is actually looking for part time work since he will not finish school until August. He has applied in his field and is now applying anywhere (today he applied at the local Trader Joe's...grocery discount?). I that he is trying anything right now!

Update - I'd like to give a shout out to the Craigslist "gigs" section! I have been looking at this for all of 3 days and I already have a "gig" lined up for next Monday and Tuesday!

Great suggestion ladies
