I'm working on a very long hospital stay... 12 days first time, and now I'm back in for who knows how many more. So, after reading every post on MDC and playing countless internet games; after reading everything I wanted to read as far as actual books/literature goes; after studying everything I needed or wanted to study; after researching my illness and coming up with every possible worst case scenario and searching out every ounce of optimism; after researching all the meds to make sure they're breast-feeding friendly...<br><br>
What the heck can I do with myself???? I'll probably be here until Monday, so I need a good few days' worth of entertainment. I don't knit, although I think it might be a great time to learn!<br><br>
Sudoku might be good... I don't think this computer will handle WoW <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> , although my son does have the game at home and an account I could use!<br><br>

I'd be sewing or crocheting if I were able, maybe reading but that would probably lead to sleeping, LOL<br>
Last time I had to stay in was with my son with his jaundice and I had a phone card and ended up calling all my cross-country family and friends, LOL With the time difference they were the only ones up at that time!<br>
Is there anything you'd like to learn to do with your hands? Look it up here and give it a try! Get someone to bring you some knitting needles, a crochet hook, whatever!<br>

That game eats time like nothing I've ever seen. If you can't actually play it, just reading the forums at the website can keep you busy for hours (better if you know stuff about the game, but totally not required) Knitting or crocheting would be good too. Start making all kinds of cute lil stuff for the babe. Read "trashy" magazines or blogs... think People, Pink is the New Blog, etc. Are you on bedrest? Go for a walk down to the cafeteria or gift shop, go outside if they'll let you.

You could also have someone bring you crosswords or fill-it-in books from the giftshop.<br><br>
When I was in the hospital, I paced for hours . . . and hours . . . around and around the ward/floor.

hmm, i was in a couple months ago and well, i taaught my son new words and argued with the nurses a lot. i didnt have much else TO do but argue with people since i couldnt move too much, ugh...i hope you dont get super incredibly bored! i brought a laptop for his birth but dang if my mom refused to when i was there myself for being sick! grrr! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">:<br>
hmm..maybe read every joke online? you could look up guidelines for eeverything you think youll ever need or use or refuse the rest of your life! hehe<br>

There are some great learn to knit sites. I found them very helpful.<br><br>
Do you have access to a dvd player or vcr? You could watch all sorts of movies you might not get a chance to watch otherwise.<br><br>
If you have a flat suface and a box full of pictures you could scrapebook them w/out little hands getting in the mix.<br><br>
You could google old high school/college friends and see what you can find out about them.

Oh, you could learn to use a Knifty Knitter (knitting loom or rake) and make loads of hats . . . which you could then donate to the nursery/NICU or cancer closet.

Check out <a href="http://www.sublimestitching.com" target="_blank">www.sublimestitching.com</a> for some really funky easy projects. When I first got the patterns I pretty much covered every inch of fabric I could find. When my DH caught me eyeing up the sofa, he had to step in.<br><br>
You could cross stitch if you have anyone on your gift list who likes that kind of thing. It takes just enough mental focus to make the time fly, but not so much that it's actually taxing. I have done some cute pillow cases and things for my DD.

Plan a(n imaginary) self sufficient garden! Browse gardening sites and fall in love with the cool plants and learn all about them. Good times!

I also second/third/fourth/fifth the suggestion of WoW. TOTAL time waster!!!!!!<br><br>
As are knitting and needlepoint. Also, check out iTunes, you can get a lot of movies, TV shows, etc., there, and some of them are free and/or not too expensive.
