I tried doing a search on the internet about how to sidecar a crib but did not come up with anything. I am wanting to do this but do not know how. Pictures and such would also be helpful. Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out how to use this digital, brb...: pretty much just take on the the siderails off, and scoot the crib so it's touching the bed.

Thanks for the pics. Do you have the matresses secured together somehow or are they just pushed together?

By the way, I don't believe in making beds, hehe. I don't think I've made my bed in weeks

I just pushed the crib into our room this morning to try to give us more room in the bed. So funny. I was going to post asking how to secure it to the bed.

I used a swimming pool noodle on the far side of the crib (between rail and mattress) to make it flush with our bed mattress.

We explored all the possibilities, I searched the internet for pictures and alternatives, we decided that our best bet was to get Mom baby and me on the floor, so what we did is that we dismantled our wood bed and placed the mattres on the floor, then next to it we placed baby's mattress, this way he is just inches away from Mommy (he is brestfeeding on demand), we all sleep safer because we know that that on the worst case scenario(him falling from his mattres) he is just 4 to 5 inches away from the carpet, Mommy is very creative so the room looks really cool, and honestly sleeping on the floor makes us feel safer, the sidecar crib might be a good alternative for some people, for us the floor is safer and secure. by the way did i mention that we did not bought a crib.... or a stroller , or a bouncy ...
Anyhow... I'm a happy Dad.
If you want to see pictures of our solution, let me know.
P.s : baby is know 6 1/2 months old

Good for you MiamiDad! We sleep on the mattress and box springs on the floor too! Much closer to the ground for little ones learning to climb off the bed backwards.

Miamidad, I would love to see pics. You said mommy is very creative. I would love to see what she came up with on how to make that look cool. We also did not buy a crib or a stroller. They were both given to us and never used until now. We don't have a big bed and we are squished! Dd is also having a hard time sleeping b/c she likes to have her space now.

Ok, here are the Pictures I promised, for our headboard mommy bough at the dollar store a beach mat and covered the edges with some strips of red fabric, for his headboard and side rail we bough foam board and covered it with cotton and red fabric then attached it to his mattress with the same fabric like a rubber band to hold in place the side rail with his mattress.

Notice on his side the Air Balloons mobile, very cool and vintage, some books we are reading to him in English and Spanish versions and some other baby items that we love.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/f1001973/482633134/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/f1001973/482633146/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/f1001973/482633164/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/f1001973/482633178/

We debated if the sidecar crib solution was going to be good for us, but then after exploring the options we decided that the bed in the floor will be the best and made a nest for him next to mommy so they can breastfeed freely, when our baby wakes up he moves freely either looking for mom on the bed or moving around in the room (childproof the room and you will have the biggest crib in the world) he starts crawling, moving, turning, etc, he gets off his mattress and starts playing around in the floor.

Our conclusion: is that if you go this way you will have less security measures to worry about, plus baby is co-sleeping with us in his own nest, in turn this gives us a worry free sleep because if he decides to get of his bed and we don’t notice it (we will notice anyway) he is only 5 inches from the floor, by the way after the first week he knew how to get off his matters and roll back down

Good Luck !

MiamiDad - Thanks so much! You've convinced me to finally talk to my husband about moving our mattress to the floor. He's excited as he's tired of being squooshed as my son is a bed hog. Thanks especially for posting the pics.
