I'm a nursing mom who just found out I have a high level of manganese in my blood. I don't know how or when I was exposed, but I'm testing my water. I've lived in a polluted city overseas (before I was pregnant) and had some odd neurological symptoms once (twitching eye), so maybe I was exposed then and my body is still getting rid of the manganese. If so, I had a high level during pregnancy and the past 16 months of nursing. I don't know what to do. Does chelation therapy work for manganese? Do you stop breastfeeding while doing it? Would a hair test tell me any more about my level of exposure? I'm having the baby tested also, but the results will take several weeks. Any information is helpful.
