I am not sure if anything is wrong w/ DD, but the last several nights she has had trouble sleeping. She is constantly waking up. I read on another board about a mama who's baby was acting like this and had an ear infection??? DD doesn't seem to have any problems w/ her ears, and I keep thinking she is acting like she is teething (chewing, biting when nursing) but I can't feel any new teeth yet? She has been fussy since about Sunday, and is just pretty clingy. Do I need to be looking for anything? How will I know if something is wrong?

TIA

When Cathryn was a baby, she would tug at her ears when a infection was coming on, So far with PJ, knock on wood, no problems, is she drooling alot? both of mine soak themselves when teething, does she chew on anything else? how old is she?

Sounds like teething to me! Sometimes there's no sign of it in the gums until one day when there's a tooth there, a week after all other symptoms begin. You could try usng Hylands Teething Tablets if you're interested in that sort of thing. I've found it to be somewhat helpful.

I've read and experienced that ear-tugging is actually rarely indicative of an ear infection, but rather is yet another symptom of teething. My boys tug their ears all day long on the really bad teething days.

6 months is when baby's immune system starts to work on its own (instead of getting all immunities from you) and many kiddos get a little bit of a cold at this age. I know Samuel did and so did my friend's baby about a month younger than Samuel. If she runs a high fever, or a low-grade fever for more than two days, or if she's acting lethargic, then call the ped. Otherwise, just realize that this is baby's body learning to work
