I had a molar pregnancy in February and we will be TTC again come July. I would like to have a home birth once I am cleared by an OB that the pregnancy is normal.

I heard that after the baby is born they will want to test the placenta to make sure there is no molar tissue. Can I still have this done even if I have a home birth?

One issue is that I will be seeing an OB without telling him my plans to HB and will have to just show up later saying OOPS we had it at home. So, I am not sure how to work this placenta thing.

I would talk to your midwife - most of the time they have a lab they could use.

I had heard that you need to wait a year before getting pregnant again after a molar pregnancy. I'm sure you know more about it, i just wanted to make sure your health is good before TTC again.

Thank you. The one year wait is actually outdated and the new recommendation is 3-6 months depending on CMP or PMP.
