lock the fridge first of all...

second of all...have a "safe, gated living area" I have my living/dining area pretty much completely childproofed and the doors close...we spend most of our time in there...

The kitchen is also gated so I can have the kids in the kitchen with me and they can't go into another room

I have good and bad days...on the bad days I don't start messy projects or anything that requires extra work.

I spend as much time outside as possible in a gated back yard...

I go to playgroups and if I am tired I don't go.

I meditate and take deep breaths a lot.

I keep the tv off and use it when I need a breather...it's such a treat then I really do get a break.

I also keep all other noise to a minimum...no noisy toys, music, any other irritations...but sometimes we turn on music to dance to...that's different.

I go on here and read read read when there is a big issue.

I don't sweat the small stuff and research the large stuff

I go easy on myself...this is a really hard job!

A few things to start with are--One: find out what's developmentally appropriate for the age of your child. (A 2 yr old who throws things and spills is perfectly normal --some things are just to be expected.)

Two: put yourself in the child's place. A two year old who fingerpaints with the mustard isn't thinking, "I'm going to do this to really piss-off mom and give her extra messes to clean up" he's more likely thinking, "This feels good" or "This is fun" or "Pretty picture."

Treating kids how you'd like to be treated is a pretty good first step.

thank you guys so much...allgirls, I am gonna print out your list and tape it to the wall lol

with the new baby here, I feel like I need to be a bit more careful b/c I don't want her to be in a screaming, negative vibey environment
I did take the PPD poll and did not do very well (not very bad either) but that is a start.
thanks,
Aisha
