Hi mamas,

I'm new here, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Jen, I'm a 29 yr-old single mom from Portland. My sweet little guy here just turned 11 months...where has the time gone? Geez. There are so many folks here on these boards and so much to read...wow...I don't even know where to begin...but I just wanted to say hi and now I will happily peruse (how the heck do you spell that) all these posts while my boy is *finally* asleep for the night!

Oh yeah, if anyone is from Portland and knows of any groups/gatherings for single mamas, I would love to hear about it.

Hi Jen - Welcome to Mothering! Check out the 'Finding your tribe' bit of the boards - you'll probably find a group of MOthering mamas in your area.

11 months old, huh - you are getting ready to move into the toddler stage, which is so fun - I just love toddlers (mine were always happier as toddlers because they weren't so frustrated at not being able to get around by themselves)!

Welcome! Yes, you must come over to the tribe!

There are so many nice mamas in Portland and we get together IRL all the time. Every week there is a play date or a birthday or meet-me-at-the-zoo, etc. Plus a crazy weekly chat thread that goes fast and furious with silly talk and serious issues too.

There are single mamas in the Portland tribe, as well as a general forum here too.

Have fun and maybe we'll see you IRL soon too!
