Hello all!

DH, DD and I may be relocated to Florida. As I have only been there once when I was 10 I am totally clueless. I am very invloved w/ LLL, practice AP (obviously), am a liberal Democrat, UU/Jew (husband's family is Jewish, raising DD and got married Unitarian). No offense to anyone here but I'm a little scared of FL. I really want to be around other "blue" people, need a Whole Foods, UU church, Jewish people, etc. I'm only crunchy in spirit, came from the fashion industry and can't let go of my love for certain material things. Anyway, Boca Raton seems nice but I know nothing so could somebody please clue me in?........... Thanks

I am in Delray Beach, the adjoining city- and I think you will be very happy. There is a very large Jewish community in Boca and Delray, two large UU congregations, a Whole Foods across the street from the university, and a LLL meeting in Boca that has been located at the same private home for 26 years- we meet the first Wednesday evening of the month.

In terms of red vs blue- we are pretty evenly split it seems- don't forget we (Palm Beach County) has voted blue in the last two presidential elections (not very well, granted, but blue nonetheless!

IMHO, Good and bad, old and young- lots and lots of people from other places (seems so to this native anyway) making for openness to new folks- I love living in Delray.

PM me if you have any more questions- I can give them a shot!

Hey there,
I moved from Boca to Fort Myers and I miss the east coast so much
Boca is great as far as being crunchy.....which I am, there are alot of Whole Food Markets there (which there are none here) as well as vegetrian places to eat and healthy fast food places etc. I loved how it was really new age is some parts and you could find everything you needed.
On the other hand its very "old money" there are ALOT of older people in most parts with way to much money, its a very money matters city....so its seems, although I can not speak for everyone, I am just telling you how I felt living there. Its great because in most parts they keep the city up, its hard to find a traashy part of town. But to me the whole food market on Glades Road east of I-95 and Jamba juice are worth moving back for. Also if your a veggie try out Sublime while your in town its in Ft. Lauderdale, its well worth the drive even if you arent veggie.
I hope this helps...and by the way I wish I was you
Oh also if its Jeiwish people your looking for then Boca Raton is the place to be, theres an on going joke that thats where all the jewish folks live. There is alot of Jewish Temples there to, so I think honostly you'll do fine, it grew on me and I went from down right hating it to missing it like crazy. I hope all goes well, drop me a line if you need anything.
