For the nursing mamas, just thought I would check in!

I am pretty sure I am making next to no milk now. But, DS continues to keep nursing, he doesn't seem to care or fuss that there isn't anything except when he is hungry or needs a drink! Otherwise he nurses first thing in the AM usually, then again to nap, then again to bed for the night. And he usually asks 1-2 other times during the day at least, and seems to enjoy it when he does.

I am still nervous about this upcoming time period when I won't have milk but won't have colostrum either, but hopefully since he is asking to nurse each day, he will get a pleasant surprise in another couple of months!

DS is almost 21 mo and I'm 14 weeks. Was hoping I would have milk longer than this.. sigh

I'm making some progress night weaning so that's a relief for me. I'm still making plenty of milk. My supply usually dwindles around 16 - 20 wks. I'm basically force feeding ds b/c he doesn't eat or drink much of anything. It's tough finding things he'll eat, though.

Dd says I still have milk but it can't be much. I can't even express it anymore. It hurts when she latches alot of the time but she does her best to be gentle. She likes the idea of sharing her milk with the baby but I wonder if she will actually nurse long enough to be able to. She is still nursing 3 times a day.

My nipples didn't hurt at all during the first trimester, but now that I'm in my second trimester they are so, so painful!

I didn't have milk for a while, and now I have just a teeny tiny bit. DS doesn't seem to care how much there is.

It's going. Both boys are nursing twice a day, although Xander may skip a day entirely. I try offering more to Hayden throughout the day, but usually he is reluctant. There really isn't much in there and he hates waiting for a letdown.

I still have milk, but it's hard to say how much. DD still nurses tons, but thankfully she's also eating lots of solids and will drink cows milk. My nips hurt like hell but I think that's a combination of the pregnancy and her teething (she bites when teething
) She seems to be night weaning on her own. In the last three nights she's only woken up once to nurse. She used to get up 3-4 (or more) a night. Because I've posted this, she'll wake up like 6 times tonight, lol. I have an appointment with my midwife on Tuesday, and I'm going to ask her what I can do with my nips. She nursed through pregnancy so I'm hopeing she has some advice

DD is still nursing though I don't think she is getting much. My nips are not sore nearly as much anymore. I am considering night weaning, because my back is starting to get sore laying next to her nursing. I keep putting it off though because I cherish my sleep and it is easier to just give her the milk than to hear her cry. I think she would be fine if I offered her snuggles instead, but that hurts my back more. I don't know!!

My 2.5 yr old is still nursing several times a week. This is down from several times an hour (when we were home -- he hasn't NIP in a looooong time).

My milk dried up and then my nipples became ultra sensitive (I nursed my dd through his pg and they never hurt this bad) and I have to ask him to be really gentle. He puts it in his mouth, locks his lips and realizes it is not much fun and leaves. That's all.

I'm hoping he's weaned before the baby gets here. If not, he's gonna be so all over me and that milk.

Sam is nursing occassionally, although there hasn't been anything there since she was 10wks old, and we never got to REALLY nurse since she was so teeny for so long. It's mostly for comfort now, and she doesn't know how to latch, but I'm hoping when colostrum comes in we can get her latched and I'll be able to tandem nurse both babes. She'll only be 10 months old when the new baby comes, and still needs lots of mama milk!

My milk has long ago gone but Julianna doesn't care. She is still nursing as many times a day as I will let her. I have been trying to nightwean and am down to about 3 times at night. I am ready for her to stop the night nursing! AT least my nipples aren't sore anymore.

We are down to right before bed-- and the pain is the bane of my existence.
I know there isnt much left at all but DS does seem to mind. I let him nurse for about 10 minutes and that is about all I can handle
I am hoping that he will make it through winter but at this rate, I doubt it.

We're still nursing 4-5 times per day, and I THINK my supply is ok because sometimes DS pops off and he'll have a little drip on the side of his mouth. But my left nip is really starting to hurt.

I was wondering, though...for a just-turned-one year old, if my supply does get low in the upcoming months, do I need to be supplementing with something else, and if so, how much? I haven't started him on cow's milk or anything yet.

I too seem to suddenly have very sore nipples at 13 weeks. Ellie nurses alot still, mostly at night and naptime. I don't think there's much milk right now, but she doesn't seem to care. I really wish I could night wean her, even just nursing once a night would be a relief, but she nurses on and off all night, just like always, and it's getting really hard for me to get comfortable or sleep at all. I've tried distracting her, but she screams and tantrums if she doesn't get her "neh".

I keep telling myself I don't want her to have to wean before she's ready. I remember going through this with DD#2, and it was hard then too. She may start to lose interest now that the supply is dwindling...I sort of hope so.

My DS is 21 months tomorrow, and he gets cow's milk. There are other options, though, if you don't want to do that... only problem is many of them are pretty low in fat... like rice milk, almond milk, oat milk, soy...

I think some moms use goat milk too but I haven't done that at all, maybe someone else here will chime in?

It seemed like at the beginning, I had a boost in my supply. But then my nipples got really sensitive and when I was tired at night, I couldn't handle the nursing, so have been trying to distract him
Now I think I don't have much less, and even though he asks a lot to nurse (and most of the time I let him) he pops off after about 2 seconds usually, unless he's nursing down for a nap in the afternoon, which I'm more tolerant of.

From what I read in Adventures in Tandem Nursing, this happens to some moms! Some have ain increase in supply!! I was so hoping I'd be one of those moms, but alas, I'm not.
But he doesn't seem to care.

DS doesn't sleep through either but he can get through without nursing. We'll keep our fingers crossed that your good supply continues!

Don't feel like you need to supplement with milk. I think only drinking water would be fine. If you are worried about calcium you could try yogurt and cheese first. It's much easier on the tummy. I have been trying to get dd to eat more yogurt and cheese since my supply started dropping. We just recently started offering dd milk when she turned 2.
