Please educate yourself on what the bill really means. It is not necessarily a good thing but it is not the end of organic farming.
Not trying to pick on you directly, I am just seeing these scare tactics all over the web and people are not really reading what this bill will really do if passed. There are some longer threads on this around MDC you (and anyone else interested) might want to take a look at.

Many, many small scale farmers I have recently spoken with, as in folks who make their living from farming, are truly upset by this bill. I think they are fairly educated people, know the industry, know the laws, and they are concerned. How many times can we hear "oh it's no big deal" before it becomes a big deal?

To me this bill and it's language could be overly interpreted the same way the toy safety bill could, in which libraries were faced with the idea that they would have to get rid of all their children's books. Vague bills can and do get abused in favor of larger corporations, and this one will not be any different.

I've read some of this bill. From what I've read so far, it doesn't outright ban organic stuff. However, the bill is unclear in its wording and can (actually it has) caused a lot of confusion.
My issues so far are
-What is a contaminant? I'm sure my idea of contaminant will differ from theirs
-Why start another branch of the FDA without addressing why the FDA isn't working now? Will the problems caused the conflict of interest and revolving doors be solved and eliminated???
-1/3 the way thru it doesn't address why there are food scares
