Can I just say *phew*! I have been dreading telling her because I didn't want her to give me the whole "you're asking for it" schpeil, but I decided that I needed to tell her before she got here when I have this baby. I contemplated HIDING my CD stash until she left, but I am so excited about CDing that I didn't really want to wait for a week (or two)...so I told her tonight. I am only 22, and "paper diapers" were all the rage when I was born. I had NO idea she used cloth on me and my younger brother. She used disposables when she was out and about. She said "why wouldn't you tell me! It's not that big of a deal! I used cloth with you and Adam."
I COULD NOT believe what I was hearing! Because a few months ago (when I was toying with idea of CDing) I asked her what she thought of them and she said "ewwww". Now that I have her support ( she even said she would WASH them while she is here!!!) I can fully be excited about this! Yipee!!!! Thanks for letting me share! I just feel like this is a HUGE step for me!

i dreaded telling my mom too. i was sure she was going to give me grief too! she used cloth on my and my brother too. she was fine with it but believe it or not she was skeptical about all the fancy dipes there! she did give me grief about throwing dirty dipes into the washer without rinsing them first (breastfed poos too) instead of arguing i just ignored her - worked like a charm!!!

i also dreaded telling dh but he was totally cool about it. he figures he won't get to change many diapers (and he hasn't either - except for the very occasional sposie we've used in emergencies)! he never "learned" to change the diaper genie so there is one less annoying chore I have to do!!!!!!

good luck!

That's fantastic. Good for you! It's nice to have support when you decide to do something "weird".

TIP: print out laundering instructions and hang them on or near the washing machine. So anyone can help out with my laundry, I have step-by-step instructions from sorting to drying on my washer. I included everything from my work laundry to baby's stuff to diapers, etc. In the time it took to tell dh how to start another load, I could have started five.
: This has helped tremendously and may prevent Grandma's use of bleach and dryer sheets.

My mom did not understand why I would do that
.... However, considering her CD experiences I can understand. Read this:

She had 3 kids on CDs at the same time and the only CD option those days in Brazil were thin flatfolds + rubber pants!! On top of that, we lived in a small apartment WITHOUT washing machine or laundromat!! So she had to wash ALL diapers in hand EVERY DAY (she did not have ebough dipes to be able to wait longer than that) and she dried them in the balcony facing the back of the building. Besides that, she did wet pails and ironed EACH diaper !!

Can you imagine that?? I feel so spoiled with my soft UBCPFs, doubler, AIOs, laundry machine and drier when I think about my mom...

That's great!

My parents are very supportive of cloth diapering. My mom makes me show her everything new in my stash everytime she comes to visit, in fact she bought my initial stash when I had Alex. My Dad got me my El Bee Baby order for Christmas last year!!
It's funny though, cause my Dad always asks if I need money to buy Huggies! Don't think he understands that I'm not just doing this cause I'm poor!!
