I read that even broken nothing can be done, and they take about a year to heal...anyone else? does it EVER go away??

A friend of mine broke her tailbone in labor. I broke mine about 10 years ago. It hurt alot for a year. And then it didn't hurt for a long time and then it started aching if I exercised to hard or the weather would change. During the initial hurt I got a donut and sat on that. I think you can get them at med supply stores. Without it, I couldn't walk after standing up. It really relieved alot of the pressure. And no, there is nothing you can do about it. You can't even ice it as the ice can't even get close to the hurt. I am sorry you are dealing with this.

you might be able to do something!!!!

3 months pregnant with my son, 6 years ago, i woke up one morning unable to sit....he did something to my tailbone. after he was born it got a bit better and i got used to the pain (which often made it so i couldnt sit in chairs, go to movies, drive a car, etc). well, it got really bad again with this pegnancy and it just so happened that i was seeing a fabulous chiropractor. told her about it, and 5 minutes later my pain was GONE! 6 years of pain GONE!! it came back 2 weeks later after false labor, but she fixed it again...my tailbone tends to turn in and go to the right side...
wasnt terribly comfy, as she basically had her fingers in my butt, but i really didnt care...she made it so i can sit again!!!

look for a really good chiro...mine happens to be extremely trained in websters and pregnancy, etc.

good luck!!

Mine hurts too. Not sure why it didn't bother me with my first birth, but with this one, sitting on anything but a soft surface causes pain. I'm thinking maybe I bruised it b/c the pain is not awful (compared to childbirth, anyway!), but I'm going to ask at my 6 week checkup. (I'm 4.5 weeks postpartum.)

I had horrible tail bone pain after the birth of my first child.
One visit to the osteopath and I was pain free.
