Hi- I can tell you what we do- not sure if it will help!

I have been vegetarian (milk and eggs, no flesh) for about 18 yrs. I have 2 ds and they are both vege and will be until they can truly choose for themselves what they are willing to eat. (not sure when that will be- at least 10 yo, I guess??)

Anyway, dh is NOT vege, he will eat pretty much anything! :LOL However, and here is the kicker!- our HOUSE is vegetarian. Since I am a SAHM, I do most of the shopping and cooking. I will not buy or cook meat and we don't serve it in our house. Therefore, dh is basically vege until we go out to eat or eat somewhere else. He totally agrees with the boys being veg but is not ready to go there himself 100%. He is, however, totally fine with the house being vege. It's not an issue at all. I know I'm lucky- it's one of the many ways in which he's wonderful.

It would definitely make it easier if he were also veg, b/c it would eliminate some of the ?s from ds1, but we sort of make it up as we go along. Some relatives are a little obnoxious about me getting to choose what the boys eat, but don't ALL moms choose what their children eat at this age? (mine are 4 and 2) Or at least they choose what is offered to them......... :

Well, I don't know if that helps at all- at least you know someone else out here is somewhat in your situation!

Good luck and congrats on raising your kids vege!

We have a similar situation... DH is omni, but I eat a vegan diet. We have a vegan household, but he eats meat and dairy when we are out.

My older kids eat meat at their bio-dad's home, and sometimes when we are out. My little one will eat like I do until she expresses a true preference to try something else. My DH is supportive of me raising her veggie, he said that he knows it's important to me and it doesn't matter to him one way or the other.
