DH and I had our first two hypnobirthing classes this weekend. I am very pleased. Our teacher is very nice, and the relaxation methods seem easy to use and remember. My midwives recommended the class, and this teacher in particular and so far so good. I am hoping for a serene, peaceful birth just like the ones we've seen in some of the videos online and in the class. It feels a little silly to be taking the class so early, but my midwives recommended we go ahead and take it now, since we will then have plently of time to practice the relaxation techniques before the birth.<br><br>
Is anyone else out there taking their childbirthing class yet? If so, which one?

I thought about taking those classes but they don't fit into our schedule. So I bought the book instead. Self-study will work fine for me. We took Bradley classes the first time around, and we had to take them early because dh was going away for weeks 36-40. So I know how that feels!

I just ordered a Hypnobabies book from Amazon. We are taking a 'regular' birthing class from the hospital (yuck, I know, but they don't offer anything other than that here, and I would rather have some 'bad' info than none at all...lol), so I got the book and am really looking forward to it.

I started my hypnobabies home study last week. I wish there was an actual hypnobirthing or hypnobabies class near me. As an alternative to the class I'm (and DH) just going to study, study, study as much as I can.<br><br>
I'm starting early because like you, nerdymom, everything I've read says the more time you have to practice the techniques the better prepared you'll be.<br><br>
Good luck with your classes or home studies, everyone!

I just started my hypnobabies homestudy again (used it with DD). They have a special twins disc set and I am going to stick with that for a few weeks and start the rest of the course at 24-26 weeks. I also ordered their sleep disc during the first trimester and it really helped when I was having some very sleepness nights. I know I will probably need it again in third trimester, too.

i am considering taking a hypnobabies course. i went to a informational/intro evening the other night, and it was really nice. the teacher (and her dh) are super sweet and very flexible, so we could probably take the class any time we want. she said its best to do it around 28 weeks, but earlier is fine too, and she's even had a couple take it very near the end of pg!

I'm doing the Hypnobabies home study course this time around. We did Bradley w/ #1, and I thought about Birthing From Within last time, but the distance was too far - the opposite side of this big 'ol city (ATL). I started looking into hypnobirthing/hypnobabies after ds was born and finally decided I'd rather do the home study course and do Hypnobabies than a class with Hypnobirthing.<br><br>
I've got the course already and I've sort of started - I listen to the affirmations most days and I've done the first two scripts a couple of times each - but I'm waiting until I hit week 24 to start in earnest.

If you'd like to get together and practice the sleep breathing and etc, I'm game!<br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">

My midwives recommended the lady who taught them. She does small classes, we're with only one other couple. I did find this though: URL="<a href="http://www.hypnobirthing.com/findapract.htm" target="_blank">http://www.hypnobirthing.com/findapract.htm"]http://www.hypnobirthing.com/findapract.htm[/URL</a>] my teacher is on there, so it must be thorough.

The instructor is sending our book and CDs this week, and our class starts mid-August. We are both really excited about it.

Well, first I would have trouble falling asleep. I would feel very tired, but my mind was just racing with a million thoughts and I couldn't settle down. Then I would wake up every 1-1.5 hours, sometimes to pee sometimes not. It would take me another hour or more to get back to sleep after that, mind still racing and full of thoughts.<br><br>
The disc helped me release those thoughts, relax my mind and get to sleep within 10-15 minutes. I would sleep longer periods and wake less frequently.<br><br>
The disc can be used without using the rest of the program and you don't need any special knowlege of hypnosis.<br><br>
Another option that I have not personally tried is a guided imagery session. Kaiser offers free downloads from their website:<br><br><a href="https://members.kaiserpermanente.org/redirects/listen/" target="_blank">https://members.kaiserpermanente.org/redirects/listen/</a><br><br>
They can also be ordered from Health Journeys. I showed them to a guy at work and now he swears by it. He is also going to try to stress one and he downloaded the pregnancy one for his wife, even though they aren't TTC yet. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue"> These burley construction guys are such softies!

we're REALLY interested in taking this class so we can use the relaxation/meditation techniques when we're feeling stressed out by the baby after birth as well. plus, i'm a high school teacher and anything that helps me get through that crazy day will be greatly appreciated.<br><br>
has anyone tried using the techniques for everyday survival too?
