So, I took the kids snowshoeing in a blizzard. The bundling up and finding and putting on of snowshoes took a while, but we had a blast! I pulled ds on the sled, and dd hitched a ride home through the worst of the wind, but it was so fun!

We only went about half a mile altogether, but since the plows aren't really out yet we had plenty of snow.

Is anybody else not in school because of a snow day?

You are one cool mom. Probably a very cool mom *brrr* after your snowshoe experience today! We are expecting a bunch of snow tonight and tomorrow. It will be our first snowfall this year in southern New England (can you believe!?!). I am not as cool of a mom, so I will be bundling mine up and sending them into the backyard without me.

Yeah, mine are *just* young enough yet that that would probably do them in. No fence, either. I'm glad we got out when we did, because now it's just colder and snowier.

Me and ds went out late this afternoon. He played cars in the snow while I shoveled out the driveways (yes, plural) . Then I pulled him about in his wooden sled.

...So how I think it was me that got the bulk of exercise here...

My kids would move to your house in a heartbeat. They have never seen snow. (I've seen snow once, on a trip to D.C.) They played barefoot in a puddle in the driveway this afternoon. I read my 2 yo books that have stories with snow in them. She has no clue what I'm talking about. They cancelled school here last month when the temp dropped to 32 overnight. The town went nuts. My kids picked tiny pieces of ice off a metal fence and said they made a snowball. It's in my freezer for posterity.

Didn't Elvis once fly Lisa Marie somewhere for fifteen minutes so she could play in the snow?

I'm determined to get out there again. School's still closed, and there's so much snow now that just circumnavigating the house will be an adventure. Also, I'm going a leeeeeeeeeetle crazy inside - this will be our fifth day in a row home with snow and no school and no dh. My dad calls this stage "the shack nasties."
