DD has run around half nekkid all summer; most of her summer pics are just her cute self and a dipe or dipe/cover. She is super difficult to pin down for diaper changes, and I am a little worried about frequent dipe changes when she has multiple layers of clothing on; it's been a little cool here lately, so she's had pants on, and its even frustrating to CHECK the dipe with the pants on. She just won't hold STILL (shocking, huh : ). Our primary system is prefolds, and I can't afford to be buying a bunch of supa absorbent hemp fitteds (though I do want a few sugarbums). I guess the hemp doublers will be doing extra duty. And, oh wool liners ; I bet those would help a lot. My gf has made s. two beeyooteeful soakers recently (You're next Heather ) and she said she'd whip up some liners for me. Anyway, suggestions would be great!

I use stretchy sweatpants on ds exlusively. It is a little more trouble with more layers but the stretchy sweats make it easier to reach in and check the dipe, as well as change.

I am going to miss the ease of summer, too.

how old is she? what if you get a diaper changing toy to help her be able to sit still? or somehow include her? i know its tough, and we always did AIO's or FB's, so i can imagine the added difficulty of prefolds.
sometimes now to get karina to co-operate, i will say something like, "let's change your diaper, then it will be time to read a story." sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.
good luck! im not looking forward to the dead of winter either...i got two babies in dipes and its so nice to just throw a onesie on them and go!

We sing songs . . . I don't like 'pants' on cloth diapered boy bums and so Kenny is often in overalls. We do have some cotton chino style pants that are 'giving,' but yes, we deal with this.

Kenny likes to focus on my face when I sing - so, I sing songs to him. He's a twister though - and fast . . . half of the diaper changes finish by him standing and me pulling on his diaper cover! :LOL

How cold are your winters? We only get a few snowy days here and never anything you'd measure in feet, just inches. So I've been able to get by with long dresses on my daughter. DS is easier to change, but DD would be a challenge for a professional 'gator wrestler. We used long sleeve dresses in heavier fabrics (thick jersey, velvet, corduroy, etc.) usualy with a sweatshirt or sweater, a hat, shoes and socks. I kinda overcompensate for the bare legs by keeping the rest of her really well bundled. I'd recommend knee-highs in a thick wool or cotton if your daughte will let you (mine wouldn't it was lace ankle-length socks or none at all. I know in some climates this wouldn't be nearly enough clothes, but it works in California. I tried snap crotch pants initially but I never seemed to get them snapped close again. Good luck.

what about trifolding your prefolds and laying them into wraps? that way your change could be as quick as AIOs?? I also second the dresses for the winter - that is probley what I will do...
