I think as long as the placenta isn't between the baby and the cervix all should be fine. If your midwife is concerned, they can always do another u/s closer to your due date to double check where the placenta is then, the things can move. My sil had a very low lying placenta at 20 weeks that would have caused major problems, but it moved up out of the way way before her due date and she had a vaginal delivery, no problem.

In my last pregnancy I had an anterior placenta and I had a perfectly fine homebirth. Anterior placenta just means that it is on the front wall of the uterus rather than the back wall. It doesn't interfere with birth at all.

I wouldn't worry - this is my third pregnancy, and I've never known where my placenta is (no U/S). It was never even mentioned by any of the mws I saw...it would only have become an issue if it had been previa.

I would not be worried about an anterior placenta on it's own. I would be wondering if it is very low, near your incision site, but other than that, an anterior placenta just means it is on the front wall of your uterus. I had an anterior placenta with my last pregnancy and it didn't make any difference at all.

does the records include a picture of the placental placement? anterior is one thing anterior over the old scar quite another- the top reason for placenta accreta is implantation over/in the old c-section scar- it makes it not safe for you- a danger of hemorrhage, severe hemorrhage-- now if it is anterior but not over the old scar that is a different thing--- maybe another ultrasound is in order that specifically looks at placement in relation to the c-section scar.

I spoke with my midwife and she said that she suspected I had and anterior placenta and said it is nothing to worry about because i did have an ultrasound at 20 weeks and it would have stated if the placenta wasa over the scar and because it didnt state that she said that it is not case but it did say no previa was detected so that was a good thing too she said...
I pray all goes as planned...

I've had 3 anterior placentas and no hospital births. Its never been an issue, just means you feel baby moving a little later than you might.
