So I just got a positive pregnancy test! I have never been pregnant before! I am 32.

I had been trying to get pregnant for so long I stopped coming to this forum, it got kind of depressing since I seemed to not be able to conceive.

However, I am now pregnant and need to get back into the community!

LOL, I have no idea what to do now. I will call my doctor over lunch and tell her, that seems like the first step right?

I am not even sure what my question is, does anyone have any words of wisdom?

Well first - CONGRATS!!

They will want to know when your LMP was and then will probably schedule something for you around 6 weeks.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, and welcome back! Yep, a call to your doctor sounds like a great idea. Other than that, for now just enjoy the moment and bask in the glory that you are carrying a little baby! I'm sure you will come up with oodles of questions later on, just post those as they occur to you!

Congrats! Some OBs or midwives wait later than 6 weeks to schedule an appointment, my first was at 10 weeks, and this one I will be 9 weeks

If you have morning sickness and it's unbearable, it's okay to call before your first appointment and let them know if you can't keep anything down - I was on another mommy's board and the poor woman thought she couldn't see her OB before her first appointment and she couldn't keep any food down, no reason to suffer! I had HG with my first, so I am very proactive about dealing with m/s. That will probably be one of your first symptoms, if you have it at all.

Thanks, I am going to go join a local tribe and see if I can get any advice on OB's or places to give birth. I just have my regular gynecologist/primary care doctor so far. Although I like her a lot.

I work at a large University hospital, and get all my health care here, but I am not so sure that this place affords me the type of birth experience I want. (but who knows)

A co worker who gave birth last year, I asked her if she had any advice, (prior to me actually getting pregnant) and she said she regretted waiting so long to look at what the options were, because by the time she investigated it, most of the birthing centers and alternative birthing type places were all booked! So I plan to get on the task right away.

Definitely scrutinize the place and start now. The number one regret I hear from new moms in my store is that they thought that interventions/sections only happened to other people, but after their births went awry, they did the research and found out that their hospital/doctor had a very high section rate.
