I am searching for super soft wool yarn

What is your favorite super soft wool yarn. Some days I do not need layers under my sweaters but so far, I am not able to tolerate the sweaters I have knit against my bare skin. I have to wear a shirt underneath. So, what is your favorite soft wool yarn? Can you compare it to Paton's Merino Classic? Or Lion's Fisherman?

Well, Paton's merino is very nice and soft, also nice and soft is Hand Painted Yarns, I knit hats for DD and DH out of it, and I think it's even softer than Merino's Classic, and in such pretty colours. Is it the texture of the wool that is bothering you, or perhaps the chemicals used in the scouring/de-vegging process on the wool before it's spun?

Cascade Fiber Arts BFL is awesome!
: I love that stuff, I just can't afford it!
That and I live in AZ so a big fluffy wool sweater isn't that practical for me

seller 100purewool on ebay sells super soft wool. Or the 6ply merino from handpaintedyarn.com
Treliske organic merino is soooooooft but pills like crazy. Shaves up nicely, though.
Malabrigo! It's so soft and yummy. Not that expensive, either.
I second the Treliske recommendation. Jackie just reinvented the yarn as a 10-ply crepe weave, instead of the former 8-ply. The wool is still just as soft, but should pill less now. I'm knitting with the new stuff at the moment, I'll LYK.

I second the 100purewool suggestion. That wool is seriously cashmere soft, softer maybe. It is just dreamy, but it pills mercilessly.
How about Blackberry Ridge merino? Super soft, doesn't pill, feels more like a cotton/silk blend than wool, and is minimally processed so if the chemicals are bothering you that should help.

Cascade 109 wool is ridiculously soft and chunky. I love it for the students.
I love Marr Haven non-certified organic. I just want to pet the fabric it makes all the time! 100purewool is incredibly soft but it loses elasticity and pills like crazy (same as for many merino yarn). To compare the purewool to Patons: Patons feels very scratchy next to the purewool. I just wanted to roll in it nekkid after I got it

I'm loving the yarns from www.britishbreeds.com : I like the welsh dk (natural grey coloured), the BFL in both aran and dk weight, and the wensleydale aran is fractionally less soft: comparable with merino- but a lot cheaper. Again, only in natural coloured though.
When I got my first package of 100purewool, DS grabbed the skein from me, rubbed his face on it and said "oh, it's so soft, can you knit me a sweater". Which, of course, was the plan. It's often the sweater he picks first. It does pill, but I have yet to find merino that doesn't--anyone? And I can live with pills if it means non-itchy sweaters.
