We did not make the picks for the Montessori school I was so looking forward to ds going to this fall! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/gloomy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Gloomy">: We are on a waiting list. I am so bummed. At first I didn't get my hopes up since we don't live in the district, but after several conversations with staff, I was under the impression that they were having trouble with enrollment, and there would most likely be spots. So, I started to really believe he would be going there next fall. Montessori just seemed like a perfect fit for ds1. I told myself I was going to be okay with whatever happened, and that what is meant to be will happen. So why do I feel so sad?? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/mecry.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="crying">

I am so sorry to hear that. You may want to inquire how many people are on the waiting list, and how far high or low on the list you fall. Many people change their plans between now and the fall, people move, they may be on waiting lists for other schools and change their minds, etc. You could still have a good shot. And yes, don't worry everything will work out exactly as it should. Good luck!

Well, my second choice school in the district hasn't figured out how many spots it has to fill yet, so that's still an option. There are some private M schools in the area. I'm considering looking into them as alternatives, but they are a bit pricier (next year, ds would be in K, and ps would be free). I'm also thinking I may be a little late for sign-up with them and end up on a wait list anyways... and they each require $200 application fees... but I may call to set up an observation and ask about ap deadlines/vacancies.
