I know this is a whiney post. I came here to check on a thread I started in the Ca/Nv area - since I'm back in San Diego now - but it's late and I was just clicking away and found myself here instead. I guess it's because Oregon really feels like my home.
I miss the farmers market. I miss the neighbors. I miss the kids playing out in the street until the sun goes down. I miss knowing all my neighbors by name. I miss my 6 mile commute into town. I miss the way the air smells. I miss the hiking and the pool. I miss my gym and the day care girls there. I miss my lower cost of living and my higher quality of life. I miss living in a house that I own. I miss having a family of conservative home birthing Christians on one side of the street and a family with 2 lesbian mommies on the other side - mostly living in peaceful coexistance. Most of all I miss having the chance to yell out GOOOOOOO BEAVSSSSSSSSSSS! on a whim.
Only 9 more years until Gary retires and we can move back... I may push for him to try for Bremerton next time he's up for orders... I really miss the PNW. It's amazing that I lived there for 3 years and it feels more like home than San Diego ever did - even though I lived here most of my life.
Whiney post over.
