My husband becomes very ill at intervals, it doesn't seem to have an exact time pattern but it has been occuring more frequently. I would say the first time was approximately 3 years ago a few days before we got married. It happened again maybe a few months later. it has happened a few other times from then to now and recently he has had it happen at least 3 times this year if not more. He has other illnesses in between but this is always EXACTLY the same, the symptoms never change. It is distinct enough that both of us can recall each recurrance in clear detial years later.
So here is what happens. First he starts to get lethargic and his muscles and glands ache and get swollen, very painful aching. Within a few hours it progresses to a high fever that lasts 24-48 hours. When the fever breaks he feels a little crappy for up to a day or two and then he is better.
He went to a doctor the last time it happened and explained the situation. The doctor claims they were just all viruses and that he was very unlucky. I have a hard time believing that every once in a while he gets a virus that behaves in the *exact* manner *every* time. He has gotten other illnesses in between (various viruses and pnemonia) that seem unrelated.
I am very scared and worried for my husband, does anyone have any advice for me?

How about Lyme? The flares are cyclical as the bacteria has a 4 week life cycle. Tests are unrelaible, it's a clinical diagnosis. If you test, use IGeneX in Palo Alto, CA. They're *the* best lab for tick borne disease. If you go to their website, you can ask for the names of LLMDs (Lyme literate medical doctors) in your area. There aren't many doctors who know how to deal with it.

It could be others things, I'm just throwing this out there. You could Google it & see if it fits.

Yes it sounds viral to me too, if not Lyme, hepatitis. As I understand it, viruses lie dormant in our bodies and can be "reactivated" ie. grow again due to any insult to the immune system. Many viruses "come back" in this manner, like herpes and shingles too.

Lyme is a bacteria, yes, it will stay with you forever & if it's not caught early (first couple months or so) it usually ends up being "chronic Lyme."

I went to that site and Lyme disease definately sounds like a real possibility. I didn't see a list of doctors on the site though or a way to contact them to ask about it, am I just missing it? Can you point the link out to me?

You have to go to Lymenet.org & go to the forum titled "Find a LLMD" or something like that "Find a Doctor" maybe. Go to that forum, post that you need a LLMD & what city & state you live in - you'll get PMs from people. The reason they do it like that is because many doctors are afraid to be listed as "LLMDs" because they have been getting their licenses taken away for treating chronic Lyme with extended doses of abx. The CDC insists that Lyme can be treated with a few weeks of abx.
