Let it be known that I believe in miracles.

Want to know why?

Because I am still pregnant.

I had another beta done yesterday to confirm the m/c. Friday's draw was 42,000, and yesterday's was 48,000. So I asked for an ultrasound, and they saw a little Wiggle measuring 6w6d (plus/minus 4 days, so on track) with a heartrate of 153bpm. I do have a small subchorionic hemorrhage, but my midwife isn't worried about it. I'm to keep taking the Prometrium and I'll have another scan in 2 weeks.

They couldn't/wouldn't confirm it, but I totally believe that I was carrying twins and lost one of them on Saturday. I know what I saw, and I saw a baby. I think it's too late to test it, but it doesn't matter - I still have one healthy baby in my tummy.

I miscarried a twin at 14 weeks. I din't know I was pregnant with twins and it was misdiagnosed at first in the ER (not my midwives hospital) as the edge of the placenta lifting. But there was a definite pop when the water for that baby popped. Also the examinig Drsaid that what I saw as lots of blood was actually a little blood and a lot of amniotic fluid. I completely understand the sense of relif at seeing that live baby still there. It was my 3rd pregnancy, so I was certain I had miscarried. I'm sorry you had to wait so long to see your live baby. I wound up having multiple ultrasounds as they watched to make sure everything went okay as the remnants of the other baby's pregnancy resorbed. When my daughter was born the midwife showed me the placenta that had the remnants of the other twin's pregnancy. (It just looked rather gristly and had another lobe to it) Everything went fine for the other baby and she is a healthy and sometimes mouthy 9 year old. You might like to do some reading on vanishing twin syndrom, although I think what happened is slightly different. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. Also you might want to be prepared for some postpartum greif, I wasn't expecting it, and it really sent me for a loop.

Yeah, I did, but my midwife said that sometimes clots look like tissue. Whatever. I know what I saw and it was no clot!

Thanks everyone! I'm still having some bleeding and a little bit of cramping, but I suppose that's to be expected with the subchorionic hemorrhage. I have a very strong feeling that things are going to be OK from here on.
