I felt like such a horrible mom! First time I was at the computer, and she was playing on my lap when all the sudden she lurched back and my reflexes where just a little too slow and she fell backwards onto the floor. She did one of those cries where you keep telling them, "Okay honey, breathe!" Finally she let out a wail. She didn't even want to nurse, she just wanted momma to hold her close. She didn't cry for long, and I watched her just to be sure she didn't <i>really</i> hurt herself.<br><br>
The second time was when I was getting her out of the car. The wind caught the door and hit her in the back of the head. This time it left a mark. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/oops.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="oops"> Poor baby girl. She's okay though. Just had to share my pain (or hers, rather!)

Oh Foxy, i'm soo sorry!! I had to laugh a little, since we've all btdt and know how awful it is!! Did you every walk too closely to a doorway opening?? did that a few times w/my first!! I kept thinking, did these walls get closer together?? Poor baby, well, just know it's the first of MANY "head injuries" that she'll have!! Its awful when they are crying so hard and wont even nurse... you feel sooo helpless.

I know how you feel! I'll never forget when poor DD was a month old. I was slinging her and kind of forgot about it. I leaned into the pantry to get something and when I stood up adn turned her head whacked the pantry door. Bad mama!! She didn't cry though, just looked very surprised! I'm sure we'll feel bad about many things over the course of our parenting, so I try not to sweat it!<br><br>

A few months ago, I had a 2 "head injury" day with my DS who was just a little, little one. That night I'd already scheduled for his godmother to take DS overnight. And I was relieved cause I thought at least he won't have head injury number 3 with her! Some days it just doesn't go like we'd planned!!<br>

LOL! Yup, done that, but never enough for her to cry. The worst is when I'm carrying her up to bed and knock her head on the door adjacent to our bedroom door. Haven't woken her up yet, but done that a couple times. You'd think I'd learn! :LOL

We have no stairs in our house, but there are three stone stairs in the garden and dd bit it two days ago! DH and I were standing right there and had delayed reactions. It was definately more tramatic to me than it was to her. Her lip bled and she still has a scrape on her chin. It makes me sad every time I look at it. I'm sure the scrapes only get worse!<br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/duh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="duh">

Yep, I think everyone has btdt. There was a day recently that I was carrying ds and it seemed that I bonked his head on evert door jam I walked through. Holy Guacamole! That's a tough one - falling off the lap! I'm sorry that happened. It's a bit scary and you feel so bad!!!<br><br>
But as you can see we've all banged our kids around. Poor ds! He's always nursing some bump! I try so hard to watch out for him and keep him from hitting the cabinet doors, door jambs, etc. - but a week doesn't go by when he's nursing some sort of mama inflicted or self inflicted wound. Last week I hugged him so hard that my necklace scratched his whole face. He cried and I felt awful!<br><br>
I do, however, hold out great hope that my son will survive and thrive inspite of ME! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/biglaugh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="laugh">:

I was holding my oldest dd up in front of a mirror when she was about 4 months old - she was smiling at the baby and suddenly lurched forward and bonked her head so hard on the mirror that it left a red mark. My best friend was there - and here 9 years later, I'm STILL hearing about it :LOL My poor kids ahve had their heads, arms, legs, etc. hit against door jams, heads knocked against the roof of the car while trying to get them into or out of carseats, hit with car doors, knocked down because they were on one side of a door and I was on the other - I opened the door and little one was knocked on her deriere. It's a good thing kids are so resilient!
