The CAVA teacher was concerned that my 2nd grade dd was placed in the wrong math class so she had us do an assessment today. dd shocked me with what she knew! When I asked her how she knew how to do a problem her response cracked me up "Mom! It was on the math video! It said I had to do it this way, didn't you pay attention?! Its really important to pay attention! You NEED to pay attention mom!" I guess she was paying attention<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> The question was something like 18 + (3 X 9) - 4 = and she did it correctly. I got the video's for me for the bone head math class I'm taking and she's been having a blast watching them. I've never seen a kid so excited to learn math. She literally is shouting answers and having a giggle fest when she watches them.<br><br>

Thanks for the links, DH is struggling with math for his programming degree... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:"Why do I need to learn Algebra when I can just write a program to figure the math out for me?" :roflmao Because you can't write the program if you don't know how the function has to work!!!<br><br>
She sounds way advanced in math for that grade thanks to your studies, and a quick learner to boot!

Finally got the results this morning...<br><br>
She scored in the 99th percentile nationally for 2nd grade!<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> Were meeting with the teacher in a couple days to do a bit more testing and move her up to 3rd grade math<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">
