I was on abx (10 day amoxicillan) about a month ago for a sinus infection. It came on several days before any cold symptoms appeared. It did seem to clear up with the abx. I was trying my neti pot, sinus meds, etc and nothing was helping. The pain associated with it was as bad as any migraine I've ever had. I didn't even have discharge until the abx kicked in and then the foulest, most solid mucus I have ever seen was coming out. I've never had a sinus infection that bad.

So now, my kids come down with colds. I went to the doctor and have another sinus infection, an ear infection, my tonsils are huge and I am STILL coughing up huge amounts of green phlegm from a bout with bronchitis almost 2 months ago. I am running off and on fevers. My ears have been plugged for over a month. Other than being stuffy my kids are fine.

I just want to be well. I haven't been sick like this in years. I am on a different abx this time (z-pack). I hope it clears everything up. If it doesn't I may go crazy.

It could be that you just needed a different antibiotic. I got to where amoxicillin didn't work for me anymore.

Also, infections do weaken your immune system so if your kids are bringing home germs or you run into germs and you're already weakened, you're kind of screwed. At least that is my understanding. I once had 4 upper respiratory infections back to back.

Do all the standard stuff to boost your immune system; good food, good sleep, and maybe do the neti pot even when you're feeling well to clean out any gunk thinking of causing trouble.
