Robins built a nest on my outdoor Christmas wreath (on the side of my house, not the door) - when I went to swap it out today for a spring wreath I laid the wreath on a chair before noticing I'd spilled eggs and babies out of a nest. I'm so upset.

I shouted for dh, he replaced the babies and the eggs, hung the wreath back up... but is there any chance the parent birds will return? The babies were alive, and had only fallen a few inches, and the eggs were caught in the wreath and were intact.

Advice welcome.

Thank you!! The mama bird does appear to be back, and we're just avoiding using the front door for a few weeks until they're bigger.

I wouldn't be inclined to try to foster them, since I'm a. busy and b. not a bird, so I was really worrying I'd caused their untimely death. Which does not appear to be the case. Huge sigh of relief.
