No one has called or e-mailed to check on me in a long time...

It's mostly my fault. I've been out of touch with my friends for months because I helped to start a new democratic school this year.

But, now...they know that I'm sick... I just don't think anyone really understands.

Even those people who are friends at the school only call me when they need something for the school.

Two of my acupuncture appts in a row have been cancelled. I'm holed up in my house all day and night.

I really need a haircut (cut it short in March) but don't think I have the energy to go...

I don't have the energy for anything or anybody anyway...but I just wish I had a few notes or messages or something to know that someone is thinking about me...

I kinda understand. I have a couple of friends here but they are only so-so friends. One called this morning telling me all about how they all met at a bounce house place yesterday. No one called to invite me and they probably knew I wouldn't come since it was a little far from my house and I don't like driving places across town much anymore, but still....

I wonder if hormones etc are to blame. I feel low and alone lately. I feel like no one understands or even wants to. It's hard but I have to believe it's a temporary hormone thing.

Mama, I know it's the last thing you want to do, but you've got to force yourself to get out and do something, even if it's a walk around the block or a trip to the grocery store. I suffer from depression and you are describing how I feel on a bad day. Please trust me, if you get your body moving and expose yourself to some new sights it can really help. When you feel a little better you might even want to take a risk and reach out to those people who haven't been there and let them know that you need them. They won't know unless you tell them.
I am concerned about you because I can tell how bad you feel. PM me too and we can be email buddies--I love email.

Please post back and update us. I will be thinking of you.

Thanks, Katherine. I've struggled with depression before...and while hyperemesis gravidum can cause depression I'm not sure I'm there yet. It's honestly not a matter of not *wanting* to go and do things, but not being *able* to stop vomiting or being extremely nauseous long enough to do anything.

I do get out and do things with my kids and my family...mostly when dh is home and he can take over childcare and feeding, etc. He's gone 4 days a week though and I can't risk triggering the vomiting while I'm out alone with the kids...so we're very isolated.

Oh I feel like an idiot...I read your post where you said you were sick but I didn't know it was HG...I hope I didn't make you feel even worse. I have no idea what that feels like and I am so sorry you have to experience it. I am sorry you have no relief in sight and can't get out. Type away here if it makes you feel any better, we are all here for you! Now I'm off to take my foot out of my mouth.

It's ok. I should have clarified in my post.

I don't think it's ever a bad idea to bring up depression, fwiw.

You didn't make me feel worse... your post made me think about it, and I definitely am going to try to keep my inner-observer on alert.

We're here for you and always happy to chat!

Is there any way that you can encourage someone to come visit you? Someone who understands that you are sick and not feeling too well and won't be able to 'host' but who will come over and talk to you and play with your kids, and not care about the state of the house? Sometimes people are hesitant to swing by if you're not feeling well as they don't want to add to the pressure by making you feel like a hostess. Do you have yard that you can hang out in with someone?

But do keep us in mind - we are here for you.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way - I do understand.

I'm giving people vomit updates on my myspace blog whether they want to read about it or not!!! That's the only way I'm in contact with anyone. Noone calls.

I know how you feel, I feel that way sometimes too, but I think it's my hormones. At least I hope it is, I feel more out of control than usual.

I was in the hospital last week for preterm labor but I did have my friend visit me (she works in the library at the hospital, but she really is a great friend, my best friend really), and my parents visited me too. I didn't mind that no one else did of course. But I know how you feel. People usually call my mom up and ask about me, they don't call me personally. That's life I guess.

Try to get out of the house if you can and give yourself a treat! I went out of the house awhile ago and bought a gelato. That's the 'big night out' for me!

You aren't alone, believe me!

Thanks, Mamas! I really appreciate your support.

I made myself an MDC signature today and ordered my dh a birthday present...that cheered me up a bit.

I'm going to try and take a shower for the first time in 3 days...ewww! And get myself to a school meeting going on tonight. At least I'll see some other warm bodies... I just have to remember to allow myself to leave before I get too tired, hungry or nauseous.

I've been drinking coca-cola today and it's helping me to keep some food down. Sigh. At this point...it's whatever works.

Aw, mamma I got a small sampling of what you're feeling today and it did not feel good. I was super sick out of the blue and called my friend to cancel a "date" and she didn't answer and hasn't called back. : the majority of me is worried for her, but I can't help but taking it at least a little personal.
