I'll go for the Reader's Digest version here -

I've spent years dealing with Bi-polar. I've also been working through anxiety and PTSD.

I have been on round after round of SSRI's. I have been off all SSRIs for over a year and am currently using an antipsycotic (very low dose) and an anti anxiety medication when needed - please no flames, I'm doing the best I can here.

I just learned something that really frightens me...this is where the feeling really stupid comes in - All the years I was on Prozac and others, I was never aware that the main ingredient is fluoride. How could I have been sooooo stupid not to research this? I won't even use fluoride toothpaste. What was I thinking? How could I have allowed this to happen?

I don't know that there is anything I can do about it now - I don't know if I'm looking for advice or just venting.

We do what we need to do in the situation that we're in. Which is far from stupid.

Nor is it the same compound in an SSRI as it is in toothpaste or water (and probably you've drank a lot more fluoride in water than you have ingested in a pill). I believe because it is bound to a carbon (unlike sodium fluoride-- toothpaste) it reacts differently and can't be toxic (or something to that effect, I'm not good at regurgitating anything scientific ). Also I think that part is almost entirely peed right out.

Relax, It's okay.

Thanks - Do you have any idea where you found the info (on carbon binding)? I've been googleing and haven't found a lot of info about how this type works in the body.
