I feel a bit stupid, but thought this might be a warning to others when using their slings. I had my 2yr old DS in a pouch in a hip carry yesterday while walking back from the park. I was holding my almost 4 yr old's hand, and had a bag over one shoulder. This is not uncommon for me.

We live on a hill - about a 10 degree angle - and I was walking down the hill on the sidewalk. It was a dry day, and I had on low heeled rubber soled shoes.

I suddenly stepped wrong over some uneven ground, and because of DS's extra weight and falling downhill, I fell forward *really* fast, and luckily managed to put my hand out, and land on my knee. I was lucky that I didn't land on him, or have him hit his head on the ground.

So, just to all you BWing mamas out there - be careful because your baby's weight on your front, back or side can really throw your balance off.

When DS was about two months old I tripped with him in a front carry. Some guy had a big metal thing sticking out of the front of his car and it was sticking out over the sidewalk. I was sure that I caught all my weight when I fell, and that DS had just grazed the concrete after I absorbed the impact, but we went to the hospital anyway.

DS was bleeding from a cut on his forehead, and fell asleep as soon as he calmed down. And of course, then you start wondering... is he sleeping because the whole thing was scary and stressful and wore him out, or is it something serious?

He was fine and healed fast, but the whole thing was scary!

Glad to hear that you and your LO are okay.

I'm glad you and your LO are fine.

I tripped with my LO in the front pack @ 51/2 months while walking on a trail. Somehow I managed to fall on my side so she was fine, thought it was funny actually. It's amazing how slow motion the whole thing was and how I was able to change the direction of my fall. I definitely would have squashed her otherwise.
