I switched to cloth with my last baby. I also started putting cloth on my older son who wears a dipe at night. We went along for months with no problems. Then my older ds started to wake up crying in the mornings. His penis would be RED and swollen. He also had a patch of skin on his right hip that would be red and blistered. I mean little blisters with fluid in them. If he reached inside his dipe and scratched him bum, then these blisters would pop up in a line, right where he had scratched.

I tried switching detergents, different creams, vinegar in the wash, no vinegar, etc.... Some things made it better, but the only thing that made it go away was sposies. A few nights in them and the skin healed right up.

I refuse to use sposies all of the time, so I put him back in cloth. One night and the redness and blisters were back. I was so upset. Then, it finally occurred to me: when we first started cding I always put about 1ml of tea tree oil in the first of two rinses. Well, I tried this the next load and VOILA.....no more redness or blisters. It was better after the first night and has healed completely over the last couple of weeks.

I washed some dipes yesterday without the TTO and tried again last night. He woke up this morning red again. So, it is definitely the TTO that makes the difference. All of those dipes are going for a TTO spin before tonight!

I FINALLY found a solution.......YIPPEEE

So mommas, if you are having problems, this is something worth trying before giving up.

WOW!

I'll need to try this. We have been battling (and losing) a diaper rash from cloth for over a month now.

We are using sposies now because he's not red at all in them.

I'll need to try your solution......
Thanks for posting!!!
