Pins!! The soap thing really does work too!

I was always afraid to try pins because my son wiggles and thrashes around so much when I change him, well this morning was calmer than normal so I thought I'd give it a try! I figure it will take some practice to get them on there good and tight? Anyone else use pins and
them? Sometimes I think the snappi is TOO tight and just does not look comfortable.

I used snappi's exclusively until I lost both of them one day and HAD to use pins. Well, I was forever converted.
It does look comfier for DS. I prefer to run them through my hair though because I don't always have soap with me.

Yes, I haven't heard this before either? Do the oils in your hair lubricate the pin?
Soap eh? I've tried pins a few times, but it took FOREVER to get the pin through the fabric.

How much of the bottom part of the prefold do you pin?
Yup, soap, wax and scalp oils will lube the pin to help it go through easier.

You can keep wax in a small can to reheat after the pins break it up also......
Maybe if I subscribe to this thread I'll actually be motivated to try the pins that I have...
I LOVE pins. We do both - soap and running them through our hair.
Also, I have noticed that pinning my indian prefolds is MUCH easier than pinning my chinese prefolds... It's like the chinese prefold fabric is "tougher" and more resistant to pinning.
Anyone have this experience?

I run them thru my hair, DH is like what are you doing you're gonna hurt yourself
I like using pins most of the time but DS is so wiggly and mobile at the moment so it's a struggle each and every time. I wished I'd seriously tried pins when he was smaller, it would be much easier to get it down with a baby that stayed still
IMO the indian's are easier to get the pin thru.

I stick my pins in the ponytail holder part of my hair when I take off the wet dipe, and they are ready to go when I've got the clean one in position.

Yeah soap works great!! I pin probably about an inch of the part of the prefold closest to his skin. Is that what you were asking?
I am new pin convert too. I just love them! They make all the difference in handling the bf poo issue. I use soap too to help with the pinning. Bees wax didn't work as well for me.
Another pin lover here! They're all I use to fasten my prefolds. I run them through my hair as well, and they slide right through. I thought Snappis looked way too uncomfortable on my DD too, so I tried using pins & I fell in love!!

Yep, just takes practice to get them nice & tight. I'm still learning!
