All the threads about what people have so far (some started months ago!), I have posted (or at least thought) I have NOTHING (quite literally nothing). BUT, from my shower on Saturday and the mega orders I just placed online today, I now have:

plenty of clothes, receiving blankets, bibs, burp cloths, towel, soft toys, wipes, fitted diapers, prefold diapers, wool diaper covers, hemp diaper bag, and an awesome moses basket (and its ALL organic!!!!)

carseat, stroller (for 6+ months), 2 slings, books, diaper pail and liners, wood rattle...

I am sure I am forgetting a thing or two, but this is all in the last few days and I CAN'T STOP PLAYING WITH ALL OF IT!!!!!!! I am so happy!!

I'm not sure there are going to be any responses to this post, as this is just a gratuitous post because I am so excited!!!!!
But if anyone else is super excited and taking out their baby stuff to play, I'd love the company!

Oh, and I have now cloth diapered a teddy bear!

ooooh Mama! I must admit I am jealous! We hardly have anything new because this is another boy born in the same month...so we already have everything. I did get a few kissaluv size 0 dipes and a wahm dipe from the market and I knit a couple soakers. But that's it so far. I did wash a put away all the nb clothes. I think I'm going to splurge on Babyhawk soon, but that's about it. Enjoy playing with all the new stuff!
We are waiting for our income tax to come back so I can pay for my diapers I have to order. My dd needs new ones too, I bought her pre-folds second hand and they are wearing out big time and may not make it to her pottying let alone go to another babe!

I have to get the baby clothes and stuff dug out, I have lots of neutrals (but much more girl stuff) and my family is waiting until after the babe is born to give me a baby shower so if I need a bunch of boy stuff then they'll be ready. There is not much else I need actually, which is good.

I remember though when I was getting ready for Grace...I must have packed and re-packed my hospital bag a hundred times, fussed over what bedding to put in the bassinet, arranged and re-arranged her wee gear in the dresser...I was a woman obsessed with it all. And the socks! Oh my joy over baby socks!! They are so tiny and perfect!!!!

Darn it, I have to go out tonight or I'd be in that closet right now digging stuff out!!!!

Yeah! I just washed all of the clothes that I have had for months, and I was surprised to find more GN ones then I thought (we don't know the sex, but we think it is a boy). I was thinking I needed some things "just in case". I have my co-sleeper, slings, and a few diapers, but I still have to go through them and see if I need to buy some more last minute.
i got boxes of hand-me-downs in the mail last week---it was seriously like christmas---but better!! and of course, i did all the laundry, folded 'em, put 'em away...got some hemp cloth dipes in the mail yesterday too! we have our shower this weekend--I can't wait! mostly b/c 8 of my women family members are coming to town (four generations worth!)

it is so exciting....yay for cloth diapers! too bad i don't have any stuffed animals to dress up...oh wait! i do! where's that bunny...
All I bought so far are a few diapers, some cute pj's and a lovely Gipsy mama Bali stretch wrap!!!
I totally understand getting thrilled with the new baby stuff, it makes it feel more real!
All the second+ time mamas reusing baby stuff, I have a question--

We don't know the gender and have gotten ALL gender neutral stuff (it's actually all solid natural colored stuff--no colors or patterns--I think I was meant to be amish! We are going to add a little sage green, and maybe a tiny bit of pink/blue after the baby comes).

Anyway, the stuff was $$$, partly because it is all organic, much of it fair trade, but also it is so thick and well-made. Do you all think I can plan on this stuff getting me through 2 kiddos? 3 even? I am big on buying a little great stuff rather than a lot of not so great stuff, so I hope this wardrobe/diapers will be the bulk of our newborn-6 mo purchases (we *plan* on 3 kids). I guess my real question is: how long do *good quality* baby clothes, diapers last?

Thanks for the advice, and for indulging me in my excitement!

I have gymboree brand clothes that my first dd (almost 12 years old) wore, and then my almost 4 year old wore them, and I am using them for this new baby girl coming soon.

This is also true for Hanna Andersen clothes that I've bought.

Newborn stuff hardly wears down, babies just grow up too fast!! Worst thing would be stains, but most of my newborn clothes are in perfect condition, so I'm sure your good quality clothing will last for a few kiddos!

I have had SO MUCH FUN with opening the boxes of handmedowns and trying to find some organization for all the little sizes and whatnot of all the clothes. I even took some stuff off the registry because seriously, I'll have 50 receiving blankets. I can't wash any of it until after the floors are refinished in the house (figure on at least some dust) but I can't wait to do the laundry! (check back in about a year and I bet I'll be tired of it by then) The only weird thing is all the stuffed toys coming. Everyone knows I have a huge dog, and a dust aversion. But they are coming by the mounds. Kiddo won't be able to have stuffies because really, the dog's toys are of that sort, and he will most certainly snatch and disembowel them. So I may have to find an outlet for the stuffies, or keep them at grandma's.

THANKFULLY i we haven't gotten any new suffed things in a while.. 3 kids so far equals A LOT OF STUFFED THINGS!! lol i can't tell you how many i have gotten rid of yet the pack and play is FULL of them!!( kids get to use it for toys instead of baby lol )
I did hear about a place that take stuffed animals to orphans and to the troops to give to kids i forget where i heard it but i bet it was here on mothering someplace.
I like to keep the special ones from certain people or that are just to cute, but i am sure there are a ton you can donate!

That is exciting! I am waiting until we get a bit of work done in our house and once that's done I will have the space availabe to organise my baby things - I am really looking forward to that!
You sound like me... I've pretty much bought everything so far... A new stroller, car seat, that really cool baby glider by fisher price, alot of clothes, receiving blankets, bibs, and some cutie shoes... I have a crib at my sister's house just need a mattress... My shower is on the 31st so after that... I'll finish up with the rest of my baby's stuff...

I love messin around with my stroller and car seat tho... I wanna be a pro at it you know so it kinda requires practice...
