I finally ordered a stroller!

Ok, after months of deliberation, I bit the bullet and ordered the Mountain Buggy Urban Double. Dh and I looked at them in person last Labor Day, and we had pretty well decided to get one, but we kept choking on the price. It was really starting to stress me out that we weren't going to have a stroller that would hold both kids. I slung ds most of the time until he was over a year, but I almost always had his stroller with me to set him down in occasionally or to hold our stuff. Anyway, everyone seems to sell the MBs for the same price, but I found a store that would throw in a free rain cover, so that's a nice perk.

I'm feeling much more prepared for this kiddo now. I have to vacuum the van still and store some more stuff in there, assemble the amby bed and add batteries to a few things. But, I think I have everything pretty well organized. I feel like I've waited until such the last minute this time. With ds, I was ridiculously organized months in advance.

Ooooh, the cadillac of strollers.
I choked on the cost and knew dh would probably have a coronary if I spent that much (it would've meant melting plastic). Then again, our InStep double jogger ain't so great so I'm sure it's worth the $$!

We never changed our withholding for taxes after buying a house and having a baby, etc. So, our tax refund is going to be ridiculously large. We really need to stop giving the gov't a free loan. Most of it's getting put into college funds for the kids, but we decided to spend a bit on the stroller, since it should make our lives easier.

Normally, dh and I would NEVER spend this much on anything. We took over a year to research and pick out our van and get the best price, etc. We usually buy our jeans and shoes and such and the outlet mall, etc. It takes us a long time to part with money, if it's over a few dollars.
Yeah Cat! It looks so cool...I like that the wheels are single rather than doubled. What color? I'm such a stroller newbie but love to look!
I got the red. I wanted the blue with cabana stripe, and dh wanted the red. Well, when I was looking around, I realized that most retailers drop ship the strollers from the manufacturer (in New Zealand), so it would take 6-8 weeks probably to get here. I found a lady in Florida that keeps a bunch in her warehouse, and she had black, silver, houndstooth and red instock in the urban double. So, that made the decision easy, red it is! She said she'd ship it out today, and we're in the 2-3 day zone for UPS, so it will probably be here Friday or Monday.

Us too... and then sometimes money is tight through the week, why the heck do we let them keep that money?!
The big chunk back every February though is really helpful but if we are more disciplined we could do better than letting Uncle Sam keep it interest free all year.

My B and SIL have the MBUD. You'll love it. I used it when I was there last summer -- it's soooo easy to push, and it really goes through every doorway with ease. Kinda heavy to get in and out of the car, but totally worth every cent.

We ended up going with the Phil and Ted's E3 (that has an attachable toddler seat) since DS will be 2.9 and likes to walk a lot. Ours is orange!

Hope it gets there soon!

I thought about the E3, since it's about $200 less. But, the nearest store that sells them is 1.5 hours away by car. And, even though I'd probably order it on the internet, we wanted to look at the stroller in person at least once. Especially since the E3 is such a novel design. But, by the time we factored in the gas to drive to look at the stroller and the fact that we think the MB better suited our needs, it didn't seem worth it to go take a look. If there was a store in town that sold them, I definitely would have checked them out. Ds loves to walk, but he only recently turned 2, and he's still in the stroller a lot when we're out and about, so I think we made the right decision. Well, at least I really hope so for the $$$ we just spent.
I got the E3! I lovelovelove it!! Everybody stops to ask what it is, where I got it, etc.

I love orange strollers, ours is orange too...So our stroller was a gift from my very, very generous MIL who always spends extravagently and started doing her own research on strollers after we asked if she wanted to get her grandaughter her first set of wheels. She wanted to get the Bugaboo after being seduced by the salesgirls at the store and asked what I thought...I guess I had to concede
. I told her that it was too expensive but she asked if I would want it if it's price were not an issue and of course if it weren't for the cost I'd choose it hands down.

It is sort of embarassing to have such an expensive stroller (it cost more than 2 out of 4 cars that I've owned
) but I do REALLY love how easy it is to push around and how cute it is. The guilt over this has been killing me! I'm glad to get it off my chest!

You will love the MBUD! It is soo nice to push. i want one, but DS is easing off of the stroller riding (he's 4.5) and they run around $899 CDN so I can't even convince myself that I "need" one.

I think I will eventually end up with a Chariot Carrier, just like 1/2 the moms in my neighborhood.
